the problem with rap &! drum 'n' bass is that those two music scenes seem too have complemented violence too go with them which in my opinion is meaningless..
throughout the eighties i listened too hip-hop/rap but was never part of its scene cause i was aware of what it could do,i just liked the music..
i love hardcore but have too many interests elsewhere too be involved with the scene properly and am glad this music has proberly the least amount of pathectic gang warfare attatched too it,let the other underground music scenes deal with that crap..
in other words the 'scene' should not dictate how the music evolves and is lived with....

i'm talking about those 'scene's' shooting star boy..
EXAMPLE GANGSTA RAP.I ASSUME THAT DRUM 'N' BASS HAS THE SAME AMOUNT OF IDIOTS IN IT.
GIVE ME A EXAMPLE FOR WHY DRUM 'N' BASS IN PARTICULAR DOESN'T PROMOTE VIOLENCE..
ANOTHER EXAMPLE, GANGS = SCENE IN DIFFERENT MUSIC TRENDS..
always regarding pre.....

Your broad stereotyping and assumtions are not fact.
While i've heard of eruptions of violence and murder between hip hop artists and fans, i've never heard of this in the drum n bass scene.. so therefore, i'm wondering where this promotion of violence you speak of comes from?
Does it come from the hip hop samples that talk about violence? because surely hardcore routinely uses the same samples..
"pointed at your temple with the intent to kill"
Does this mean eye opener promotes violence within the hardcore scene?
love, shooting star boy.(??)

Give me an example where happy hardcore dosen't promote lude acts in public.
Give me an example where trance dosent promote terrorist attacks.
You have to realize that when ever I listen to Drum & Bass I usually fall alseep, no matter how loud. When I listen to Industrial I want to go oout and do stuff. When I listen to trance I feel like killing my self. (Ok, maybe not.) You have to look at the music, no music really promotes anything other than its self.
"EXAMPLE GANGSTA RAP.I ASSUME THAT DRUM 'N' BASS HAS THE SAME AMOUNT OF IDIOTS IN IT."
This statement right here can go for anything. There are going to be a proportionate ammount of idiots in the scene.
No matter where you go someone will always be an idiot, weather you choose not to listen to them or to be an idiot right along is up to you.

i'm talking about seperating the 'scene' from the music that its attaches itself too..and it is painfully obvious that drum 'n' bass has a problem..
but again it is the music scene that i'm picking on here not nessasarily the music itself, but some music generes certantly dont sound friendly or uplifting in a general manner..(drum 'n' bass/gabba/hard techno etc...
clubs in particular have a nortorious reputation. but the question is why do music generes create and multipy so many gang related issues.surely its the 'message' that certain music pours out..
if music comes in boxes then music is perpendicular in shape moi?

Jeez its a small minority of individuals who decide to act like fools because they reckon they shud cus of what the music says - every time i hear summin like this i think its rediculous!!!! nothing iv ever heard in a song or on tv has influenced me to be violent... and nor has it to MANY people.... there are a very few people who feel the need to act like pricks cus they r into gangsta rap but hell most ppl who like rap/hip hop/dnb just like THE MUSIC!!!!!

Ok, I am starting the Scott Brown Gang. We are going to go to happyhardcore patries and start fights and kill people when ever a scott brown tune is played. Who is with me?
Pre, I hate to be mean, but I am going to. You are not making much sense.
You keep on saying that Drum & Bass promotes, even induces violence. I cannot figure out why you are thinking this, but I believe it not to be true. Unless you have a friend who when ever there is a bass hit he punches you in the face I am hard presed to even try and agree with you.

have you ever been to a full UK rave like dreamscape or helter skelter or slammin vinyl etc...
3 arenas (example)
1. drum n bass - all the usual like mickey finn darren jay etc etc
2. hardcore - all the usual like brisk slipmatt sy dougal hixxy etc...
3. technodrome - clarkee menace scorpio loftgroover etc....
go into any of these arenas and a good 95%+ are there for the music... all dancing all buzzing all cheering whistling or hornz crew. where is the attitude? the attitude is in the music and thats why u buzz so hard and have such a great time... you release the energy inside u and it makes u feel great all that pentup aggression from a hard life can be released... I went to an allnighter with a blinding headache stomach pain and felt rough when I came out I felt so happy and great and buzzing!!!!!! (tired as well but buzzing) remembering what a WICKED NIGHT I just had. Its like medicine to a real raver... dancing your nuts off with thousands of people with cold shivers rolling down the spine. just watch the expressions on the ravers faces on the Videos like dreamscape etc..... AMAZING
outside the venue is another matter.... you are who you are and no matter what music u like you are pretty much in control of your own destiny... if your a a$$hole who acts the big man and wants to fight all the time then that is who you are... people get stereotyped as to who they are even if they are not like that
a lot of people think that ALL ravers are a bunch of ECSTACY FUELED Druggy Freaks.. this is wrong. I've never touched the stuff in my life and thats the honest truth!

thats right, the influence is obviouesly heard in early vibes & seduction tracks..
there is a big difference i know between raves & clubs and my teenage friends definatly reflected the attitude of the club persona rather than a full on get-together rave where greetings & bonds are frequently furnished..
when i use words like 'promote', i'm referring too the 'message' that a music genere gives out, what you people here were referring too are raves which have a totally different atmosphere too the clubscene, also the other main problem is the drugs & alcohol that are obviouesly tied too any music scene..
but its good not too mis-comprehend the differences between ravin & clubs, big difference all around...
