Has anyone else seen the T.V. commercial for that game MANHUNT for PS2?
there's some straight sinister pounding hardcore in the back-ground,
surprised the hell out of me.

hardcore and video games hmm
That would have to be the first time anything like that has ever happenned.Hopefully it will continue that way hardcore will no longer sound quite so foreign to the masses.

i dunno about that but it sounds like a good idea, could be a good way to bring hardcore a bit more publicity but then again my only worry is that people will just start gettin into it coz of it becoming popular. i don't want hardcore to become the nu-skool pop craze amongst a load of little kids; if that happens you all know that the music will start to change from its original roots.
If pac-man really had an effect on us, we'd be runnin' round in dark rooms with repetitive music eating pills!!!

You are right hhc member if it becomes too popular than it would be all the "normal" people.I feel we have a pretty good room full of freaks in here and now that I think about it, would have it no other way.
Well I guess here in oregon could use a few more though lol.

I think that there should be more hardcore in games these days..... I get bored listening to this so called techno/trance and all that guff. Gimme some phat-ass beats and breaks at 170bpm whilst playing wipeout etc. and I'll be happy. Having said that, I've got an xbox with loads of hardcore, and you just can't beat ragging a Ferrari Enzo around the Nurburgring to the sounds of the CLSM!
As far as I know, the only hardcore in games is indeed in the DDR series, but has anybody played Doom on the Playstation 1? Try and get to the (Secret) level called 'Club Doom', or even easier, whack the disc into your cd player - there's a hard-ass Gabba track pounding along at god-knows what speed - made a good game even better for me :)

Actually thats something id want to do. Put some hardcore tracks in a title. Its just that most of the game dev community knows nothing of the music. There was one person at a arm of Rockstar in the states that knew what Hardcore was. He kinda dismissed it as music. Everyone else thought hardcore was the "hardcore" subset of punk. This was just one large branch of Rockstar though.
Im hitting the Game Developer Conference to talk about getting some technology to do some projects but I would really like to throw hardcore into some titles. Its just being indie I don't know what the license fees would be and if its affordable to do. So I hope to find out from some sound designers if I run into any.
Danke,

hey hrz first let me say that the cost would be dependant on who you used and what music you used.Let me guaruntee that you try putting any of your big time favorites then is gonna cost a lot more than if you talk to some samller guys who would be just glad for the opportunity to put their stuff out there. One easy way to tell if it is going to be cost effective is to see how many commercials they are using for the game and so forth.I know there are a few other producers in here who are good as well as unknown and if you start a topic where it shows they have the opportunity to throw their stuff out they will flock to it.All most would desire would be a copy of the game at least thats how I feel if someone ever used my music for anything.
