it's really interesting to listen to a lot of UK sets and then turn around and listen to some stateside/canadian djs, sends your head for a spin when you see the difference in speeds

people tend to think "all" tunes are getting too slow, but it's only a slow minority. Just because Scott Brown And Breeze & Styles are producing slower doesn't mean anyone else is. Generally the reason some tunes are getting slower is because its easier to get a harder sound that way - if you produced like me and some people i know, you'd know what i mean. There's still many tracks coming out at 170bpm but agreeably people definately need to speed it up a little.

I know that a lot of stuff is pressed at 168bpm, but I like my stuff from about 175+.
Mmmmm 180. Yeah.

i dont think songs are getting to slow. Some really good tunes out there that mix the slow and the fast speed, which i feel makes it more effective if you have more of both slow and fast beats.

i believe you mean 16
but the slower tunes have a tendency to put a damper on your set if you wind up having to spin regular 12's. that's why i try to start with slower breakbeat numbers and work my way towards 220 bpm =9

that's a good reason not to buy tables at have super pitch.. you get used to being able to spin tunes at any speed, and then when you go out to play on normal +8 12's, you get messed up..

^^ i run into that problem ALL the time. luckily in my local area, all the sound companies have pitched up decks.
as much as many of us don't like playing slow, we still can't forget that a lot of the tracks that are now being written slower are still awesome (well... that is, if you think they are). i don't want a bunch of producers to read this thread and think that we're dissing the music ONLY because it's slow. the music is still great, no doubt. whatever the speed, i'm still going to play as fast as i can. go speed racer go!!
