there are only 2 problems with Bonkers 12:

1. CLSM - Free Your Mind (Sy & Unknown) Rmx) - isnt on it and..
2. There are 2 different versions of that Natalie Imbruglia song 'Torn' we really only need 1, plus Scott's Mix should be better

anyone else got any probs are is everyone else happy with the tracklisting

ps i still thinks it rocks and i still think Crazy Love will be the best tune on it

I think the SB Mix of Torn is much better than the B&S :o

Only problems i have/things i dislike..Is the fact that there are month(Nearly year old) tracks on it that have featured on other albums and atleast could have been on Bonkers 11.(From Hixxys mix)

The tracklist on all the cds look pretty good to me. Sharkeys mix looks pretty wild this time compared to his earlier cds but the only thing i'm dissapointed about is how CLSM-Free Your Mind isn't on any of the discs!

I have to admit the Scott Brown mix is bangin and is my favourite out of the 2 mixes. I'm not a massive fan of Breeze & Styles tracks these days but I like their mix cause its a good uplifting and bouncy tune.

2 things wrong about Bonkers 12... nothing! It's what's wrong with the ravers slagging hardcore on and on.. I like everything about this CD-pack. Nothing to insult or complain about it.

Well said mate.

It comes down to a simple choice in the end - buy or don't buy.
I know it hasn't really come up in this argument but on other threads (and other forums) there's been the inevitable "INSERT RANDOM DJ NAME HERE...should have done the 4th mix on B12". that's all well and good but the people at React are trying to produce commercially successful compilations - not trying to please the odd 20 or 30 people who would complain about them and probably not buy them anyway.

Personally, i buy all styles of Hardcore on all formats and always have done.
Some people only buy vinyl, some only tapepacks, some only CD's. The main purpose of mixed CD's such as Bonkers is to give us a sample of everything that is current in the hardcore scene and that is reflected in the tunes/labels featured, NOT the DJ's - the tracklist should be the best indication of what's on offer. Regardless of who's mixed the CD's there's still plenty of different producers/labels featured.

Personally i would love to see a CD compilation mixed by people like Lee UHF & Riddler or Mozz & Oli G back to back (or should that be FRONT to back ) but unfortunately that wouldn't be appealing to enough people. Maybe in time it will happen but unfortunately, you can't really blame the bigger labels wanting to cash in on Hardcore's current success.

You never know - it could all end again tomorrow so perhaps it's understandable that some people are only looking at the present rather than the future.

And going back to the original purpose of the topic.

What's wrong with Bonkers 12?

THE NUMBER OF BLEEDING TOPICS ABOUT IT!!!

@AGREED

react want to increase sales, and if they think that including a breeze and styles mix will do this, then they will. hardcore is going commercial, that much is obvious, so we should all get used to it, and stop moaning.

after all, this is our scene they are trying to make larger!!!!

Quick review.

Hixxy's mix.
Really weak in my opinion - nothing particularly bad but i reckon that the lack of Breeze & Styles tunes has meant he's included stuff that might not have made it otherwise. Some of the tunes seem to be 'growers' but not too enthusiastic so far i'm afraid. Can't quite put my finger on why though!

Sharkey's mix.
Top stuff - as usual.

Scott Brown's mix.
Much more immediately likeable than his Bonkers XI mix - top tune selection and much longer than the last one!

B&S mix.
Might get slated for this but i really enjoyed this - exactly what i expected and all good cheesy fun! Quite a few of the tunes are pretty similar but that means if you like one you'll like 'em all! Some of these tunes in Hixxy's mix would have made a big difference.

here's my quick review.

Hixxy - top stuff. Waiting and tantric are excellent tunes, I think tantric could be a massive grower on everybody, interesting use of 'unusual' synth sounds. Nice balance between vocal and non vocal tunes. Flows very nicely, quicky enough to gloss over the couple of weak tracks on the mix. Agreed that it suffers from not having a couple of B&S tracks on it.

Sharkey - Amazing! relentlessly hard but stuffed full of banging tunes, no filler tracks imo just quality. Mixing points and order of tunes judged to perfection. Keeps your interest the whole way through. tunes 5-6-7-8-9 are so good they justify the purchase of all 4 cd's imo

Scott Brown - Familiar sounding, not as adventurous as i'd hoped but still good. He seems to moving away from melodic vocal tracks and upping the hardness, which with B&S on the next cd was probably a good thing. Never gonna really love his gabba endings but with the inclusion of boomstick I feel i'll probably listen to this one more than his others.

B & S - Well it better than I thought it'd be but it really does become a bit samey after a while (like Hixxys 11 mix) with that well know synth stab and bass sound on show far too much. Some good tunes on it though, 3000 cycles, skydiving and electric remix are class, just too many average tracks in my opinion. I will listen to it again no doubt and it may grow on me but I feel it was an opportunity missed to do something a bit different.

All in all I really rate this after the disappointments of 10 & 11. An excellent package easily worth your money. This could be the best bonkers since 3 imo and I know i'm gonna be caining it for weeks in my car.

*Note to react for 13. please put a bit of breakbeat on next time just a tiny bit to help showcase the sound, its my only criticism of this one*
