I've been a fan of hardcore for years now and I'm glad to see that dispite a lot of critism in the past it has stood the test of time, is still around and is as good as it ever was.
But where's the scratching gone? That's was one thing I thought really set hardcore apart - all the scratching and generally live and exciting mixing, but lately it has almost dissapeared from what I can see - the only DJ that had any on the radio1 show was Sy. What's happened since Bonkers1 Hixxy?
Any comments?

At Slammin Vinyl NYE, Sy & Kevin Energy did a bit of scratching... And all the way through Sy & Unknown's 6 CD HARDCORE, Sy doesn't really stop scratching...

Yeah, Kevin Energy still does a lot of scratching in his live sets. There's quite a lot of live mix cds & tapes when he does a bit of scratching.

when you said that I assumed that Sy would've been scratching while K.E. was mixing

I miss scratching too.... I think as the art of scratching has become as elaborate as it has, not alot of people really are still willing to stick their neck out. If you listen to alot of older tapes, the scratching on them, while it adds to the performance, isn't anything too difficult. That's just what I kind of gather anyhow. This is a trend that I've noticed in other genres as well though. It seems like younger DJ's are more focused on getting a smooth mix, I however still prefer a DJ to show some turntablsit muscle.

I think Dodgee is the best scratcher in hardcore at the moment.

Theres loads of djs that scratch really just not many of em get bookings at the big events. Sy & Unknown both do loads, Energy does the odd bit, i believe i even heard hixxy scratch a little again on one of his rescent tapes. He used to do a lot more. Dodgee is class though
