Better lighting systems, not just high wattage lights which flash on and off
I mean you can buy light systems aimed at kids which flash with bass and have like 5 diff colours, but yet we get some horrid "professional" setups at raves, which look worst then a 50dollar toy....
we need more laser displays and less strobe lights

yeah, less strobes! the guy must've switched them on and then buggered off home at slammin' NYE. they were on for the whole of the last hour, my head nearly exploded haha
lots of laser work and the really big UV paintings and i agree about uproar being spot on with it all!

Lasers really do make the difference. The things I remember about human traffic and flashback (at the Qclub) were the excellent lasers. They give everybody something to focus on, so people arent just gurning at each other all night...

Silver - good answer :)
I agree the lighting over the years has got worse, back in 1996 it was awsome and even b4 that..
I think a decent set up and lazer display make a good atmospher get people more into it.:)

lazers r ace but i dont think the strobe should b killed off completely.
a lot of people let thereselves go and lose the plot with a strobe, ive got 1 in my room coz i like them so much!

Sorry to say it but id rather never see a strobe at a rave again, my girl had mild epilepcy when she was young and a strobe in her face all night is probibily a risk to her.
As for improving raves: Clean venues, Smaller ques (at big events) and in some places a better sound system wouldnt go a miss.
oh s*it man, what was i saying?

i think they should have alot more lasers but i dont think the idea of getting rid of the strobe light is great either. They should rly have two different times when they are going to have them on. Airconditioning would be nice but that would be kinda expensive and they would prolly jack up prices i think. More chill out spots in a rave would be nice too

mixing strobes together with lasers would definately be class. i remember at the resonance event last year they had these funky spiky ball type things hanging from the ceiling and they looked pretty class, so maybe some abstraact stuff just hanging about would look cool (only off the ceiling that is blow up stuff i mean). on top of that i think foam parties present a pretty good laugh, especially when there are like fans and stuff about as well coz it just blows it all over the place. mental.
a really cool effect i just remembered actually was when a mate of mine had this glow stick, already cracked open so it was glowing, and he was spinning it around on this rope and it just smashed and the chemicals splattered all over the walls; looked proper cool.
also maybe a bit of UV lighting in a chill out area would look nice.
Phew, i don't ask for much do i?
By the way Scott devotion, i listened to ur show last night and taped a mass sum of it. Brilliant show mate, keep up the good work, massive shout to rush for me too yeah? nice one
If pac-man really had an effect on us, we'd all be runnin' round in dark rooms, listening to repetitive music and munching pills!!!

Totally agree with most of these points. Treble the people on the gates so we get through quicker! With the lighting, people get hung up on spending money on powerful lights but it needs to be a balance, strobes and lasers are wicked and people love 'em but only for short bursts, they should be like a treat for really sweet breakdowns and lose-it-completely moments!
At uni we have a major shortage of cash for equipment but because the techie team are so good, it is always an amazing light show.
