Yeah. I had some tunes from then lying around.
Mike Slammer and Red Alert were big back then. No kick drums, just layers and layers of breaks. The sounds of Kniteforce....Jimmy J and Cru-l-t.
I think breakbeat.co.uk has more info on oldskool hardcore. The used to be no such thing as jungle or I think even dnb, just hardcore.

Yeahz My favorite hardcore tune from the day was alpha teams speed racer remix and another one that said "james brown is dead" speaking of if anyone knows the james brown song and who did it I would be eternally grateful.I want the oldest mix though so if there are newer remixes thats cool but I really want the name for the oldest one

James Brown Is Still Alive (which paul elstak was a part of)
Who The **** Is James Brown?
Who The Hell Is James Brown?

same as,
only started to pick some of the tunes up when i earnt money in 95 onwards (so glad I did else would cost a fortune now.
Even thou there was breakbeat, there was still plenty of Hardcore with 4x4 kicks, although they where not always tough sounding.
From what I remember it got labled 'rave music' alot, still Hardcore as a name was used frequently.
Thing is raves would just have music on with all sorts of Dj's supplying various sound's.

To the point of the speed. 150 back then would back then have been summet new and not really tried before. Im sure some of the more knowlegeable members could say when hardcore really came about.
