HEY GUYS N GIRLS:)basically i jus wanted 2 kno the ins n outs of these beauty's that ive heard so much about!if n e 1's been to 1 i'd love 2 kno what its like n wen the next 1 is!..r they jus like n e other big event?i guess more drugs would b held there..but what about the music n stuff is it more slammin or wha?:)

Ive never been to a rave, so i really wouldnt know but, id guess ther would be more underground, unknown DJs. Dont know why it would be more banging just cuzz its illegal tho.

I've been to a couple out in the middle of nowhere in Kansas. They were held in barns and a big ass field with a bonfire.......they don't last for too long....the music echoes wake up pissed-off farmers. Fun times though

I went to a few, (back in the day) mostly free-parties held in warehouses/barns/car parks etc. & yeah most were great but there's always some people who have to go way too far on the drugs & usually spoil it for the rest.
The music really depends on the DJ's (generally as MrJakk said, unknowns), but most of the ones I've been to have been either Gabber or Hardhouse.
You wouldn't find many underground DJ's playing anything mainstream (i.e. Heart Of Gold), and the parties would go on until the cops turned up, then everyone would try to hide/get rid of their stash & go to a house party somewhere.
I heard of some Acid style parties being held in fields off the edge of motorways and suchlike, but that was well before my time.

This thread has done a good job of making my brain hurt. I only wish that I could change my name so that it is no longer in alternating caps. I'm mostly just too lazy to make a new name however.
As for the subject at hand-- I find that if you know the right people, you'll be able to find the parties. If you can't find them, you either aren't looking hard enough, or aren't cool enough ;)

It can be hard finding out where events are kicking off, as usually people don't find out until the night it's happening (obviously with the exception of the guys running it!!).
If you're really keen on going to a free party, the best place to find out is through mates at college/university/etc as they generally get to hear about stuff like that a lot sooner (it's normally through a friend of a friend). That's the reason I don't bother anymore (I'm getting on a bit at 25).
The thing is, it's not normally any better than a fully licensed party & you've not got the luxury of a medical centre/room/whatever onsite. So if anything does go wrong, well, your stuffed.
I say stick with the regular gigs, they're easier to find, the light shows are generally better (IMO) & you'll at least have a bar for beer/water/vodka.
