Ive been into the hardcore seen for awhile now and ive been pondering...What other styles or genres of music do you guys listen to or inspire you to make music or just listen to it? how did you get into it?

not too much tbh. i listen to the odd bit of rock, stuff like iron maiden and led zeppelin, and i listen to some newer rock; not good charlotte and shit like that, i mean the odd bit of incubus and used to listen to evanescence.
aside from that bit of house, bit of trance, techno. all that sorta shit really

I listen to Nappy Hardcore ,Upfront Hardcore,Old skool Hardcore ,Hiphop,Rap,Some trance ,I quite like Indie But dont really get the chance to listen to it :\ ...I listen to Hardcore everyday and other styles whenever.

- Hardcore -- all forms, none of this pansy'ing around with sub genre's
- Hard Trance -- like to keep it melodious but not cheesy
- Hard House -- the classic stuff
- Trance -- progressive and anything from the 99 era ;)
- Big Beat/Break's -- love hybrid - have a listen to "Finished Symphony" and also BT's stuff
- 1996-98 Dance Music - Dario G, DJ Quicksilver - they're older stuff
- Chillout - especially ambient, i have tons on vinyl, and is great for late night mixes
- some garage - Artful Dodger - MJ Cole etc etc
- some DnB - especially John B's Stuff
and what got me into it?
the radio, Radio One.
dance music would have been the first music i heard as a kid thanks to them, so i just grew up with it. then when they started doing "the mix at six 96" i started to get interested in DJing.
hmm, looks like i shold have just said "anything apart from rock that was made after 1970"

Disco

Hard House
Hard Trance
D 'n' B
Breaks/Big Beat
Garage
etc.
The only style I find very difficult to listen to is probably Reggae. I can't seem to get into the rhythm of it at all (not through lack of trying!!).
I try to keep my options open, that way I can maybe introduce something new when I compose some of my own stuff.
