I'm an up and coming DJ *hence up and coming still dont know everything* and duno if its just me, but when dance music suddenly was all over the radios a few years ago and albums like gatecrasher came out, it was really awsome but now I hardly hear of any new movement in electronica * hearing darudes sandstorm then www.di.fm and finally Happyhardcore.com/radio got me into this music WHOOP!*
If its just me say so but its like a dieing breed dance music and no new people geting into it. I kinda got disheartened when I read that the club scence in New Zealand all electrona genre wise was still great but people came not because of the music but just to hang out and really they dont give a crap about the music *I hear its better in EU and the USA* But anyway whats you guys and girls thoughts on this or facts? Plus it was actually some real djs that were saying they'd noticed the change. PLEASE help me out I love Hardcore but I still dont know whats going on. And what if the same thing happens to Hardcore like House? Going Mainstream then uhhhhh where is it now?
PS if theres already a topic on this somewhere Please let me know thanks.
When I grow up I wana be a D JJJJJJJJJJJJJ!

geeza, hardcore is unlike any other music culture.i dont think it will ever truly cross over and become mainstream and i dont want it too.in england it has stayed underground on the whole.i have been raving and djing since95 and the hardcore sound is still there, you should just keep it real and do your own thing. hardcore will never die. peace, baggy

I agree with splix hardcore is growing and eventually it'll be the same as the dance outbreak and it'll all happen again.

yeh theres pros and cons from going mainstream. Cnt really b arsed 2 go into it. I think that it would be absolutely massive or a complete flop but woteva happens hardcore will always have loyal followers.

hardcore is my life-style. Always gotta have hardcore playin when im doin random things around the house OR at work. I wouldnt care if i saw Scott Brown doing commercials for Mcdonalds and people called him a sell out. Or if Hixxy suddenly started to play (PLEASE GOD FORBID!!) R&B. I will always support the hardcore scene cuz its my life. Love the Music! i sure do....

It ain't really dying, it's more at a split inthe road. One way goes commercial, the other goes more underground. But don't worry, most ppl whit a hardcore-passion go underground, where the true hardcorefeelings surface.

Darude is a finnish producer, very nice guy. Writes every now and then on a finnish forum telling all these storys of the big world out there :)
But anyway, a music genre may go really small, but it cant really die (even if there doesnt come new, there will always be the old), witch basicly happened to eurodance But electronic music aint ever going to go small, its too big and theres too much to explore to it just vanish. When things go ruff, they change and find another way to live :)
There are always people saying that it used to be better, this because they only remember the good things from the past, not the bad ones. But from the present they see the bad and dont care to dig out the good, so for them it may be dying. This is what happens when a genre goes mainstream, it becomes too hard to find the good tunes under the shit.
But its not going to happen to Hardcore, hardcore can be so many things. It has so many styles. There will always be people that want to hear something a little bit faster and a little bit harder.

you still pretty much have at larger parties (that aren't busted) people just showing up for drugs and not giving a rats ass about the music. that's why usually if i go out it's an all hardcore party I'll go to because they are all drunk instead =P
hardcore will never go mainstream because it's too fast and people don't know how to dance to it. the thing that cracks me up is a good portion of jungle djs spin close to the same speed and most of the kids dancing to that say hardcore is too fast...then they try to act like they know all about bpm when you try to explain things to them.
