hmmm, I know we shouldn't talk about front covers here in this thread but the Bonkers 11 cover puts me off listening to it (it was embarasing buying number 11 with that front cover) anyway for me 11 in sound was the worst. from the old bonkers 1, 2 & 3 do it for me and the new skool it has to be 9 (sharkey's mix on 9 is fantastic even though I'd heard a few of the tunes before on the next generation album)
another thing.... number 6 (the wheel crazy one) is just awful IMO!

I liked the new covers more. Though i'm a huge scifi fan, so that might be why...

If you Expect 7 to be like the rest(HappyHardcore) You will be dissapointed. Its more sort of Dancy/Trancy?
I think thats why you could say allot of people dont like it. Good CD for some songs though. :)

Bonkers 1 was a breakthru when it was released, ads on television and cd's stocked in Woolworths? Happy Hardcore CD's? Never!!
Bonkers 2 was amazing, but OH NO!!! ONE track for the whole CD?? (I now have a knackered skip/search button lol) (Although the new mastered edition is split now)
Bonkers 3 -Sharkeys mix is the best IMO, then Sharkeys on 5, the other discs for 3 and 5 are a bit cheesey for me. 4 was average compared to 3. 6 was the biggest pile of s**t and I thought 'Is this it? is hardcore dead?', Vibes mix (the better of the three) got stolen out of my CD player just after I bought it and I didnt really care :(
Got 7 just for the set really, and wasnt really impressed, 8, 9 & 10 really blew me away tho. Just so much of a refreshing sound, 11 & 12 are continuing this too, (although I think Sharkey is losing his trancey feel for more harder stuff, or is it me?) Considering its 12 volumes and going strong, its done well.
For those that dont have 1-5, get them! Its good to see the progression from the bouncy happy hardcore to the nuskool style. There was GOOD music before 1999 believe it or not ;)
Out of the 100 or so HHC albums I have on CD, Bonkers 1-5 still get regular playtime.

Silver, LOL, Woolworths aint too bad NOW, but back in '96 when Bonkers came out, it was unheard of for a mainstream music retailer to stock Happy Hardcore. Since Happy Hardcore started getting released on CD, it has become a lot more accessible to average music listeners. Unless you were either a DJ or you bought poor quality tape packs and could put up with 'live' feel and MC's (I'm not a DJ and I cant stand MC's myself), it was very hard to get any sort of decent Happy Hardcore. Now everyone who has a CD player can pick up a new cd from HMV/Virgin/etc, sometimes cheaper than a cd single (WOW What a rush series anyone??)
Bring it on :)
