This was published in the Midland Daily News (A Michigan-based newspaper) recently, bravo to hhc.com's own Apollo!
---------------------------------
Most teens who have dreams of being a musician are lured by the appeal of a microphone or a guitar.
But for 16-year-old Midland High School junior Sean Bartley – aka DJ "Sean" Apollo – it was all about the turntables.
Bartley is an electronic musician; instead of a traditional instrument like a guitar, he creates and mixes beats together on his own electronics equipment to make songs.
He said he, "really just fell into the electronic music scene one day."
"(My good friend’s) brother was messing around on his equipment, and I kind of took notice," Bartley said. "Between seventh and eighth grade, I got my own turntables, got some records off-line, and that’s where it all started. I’m just like any other kid, in a garage band or a punk band or whatever. I just have a different style."
What Bartley started on was a highly underground scene, especially in the Midland area. After almost four years of writing, recording and producing his own music Bartley has come to love the music and the scene, and has tried hard to get the word out about it.
Bartley said the Internet has really helped him get exposure, and help people learn about the music. HappyHardcore.com is the largest hardcore dance site in the world. Hardcore dance is a genre of electronic music. Bartley is a regular disc jockey on that site, which is based in Japan. He appears on one or two spots a week of their daily 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. broadcasts that reach around the world.
"I’m lucky to be a part of it," Bartley said. "It’s the head of its kind in the world."
Sean Bartley is a disc jockey and electronic music producer. He also hosts a live radio show on a website Wednesday nights from his bedroom.
Bartley is also signed to Rave N’ Beats, a record company. He just finished his first album, "Audio," and it is now being distributed with orders through their company, which can be found at Phusionrecords.com.
Shattering the stereotype of electronic music as a front to do drugs wasn’t one of his goals, but it is an issue that has come up the more Bartley is in the scene.
"Anymore, there’s DJs up on stage, a controlled crowd; it’s just like any other music concert," Bartley said of electronic music events. "A lot of people who go to electronic music events, are there for the DJs and the music. It’s unfortunate there is a bad rep about it. It’s just not like that at all."
Bartley has become dedicated to his music the more he has learned, and now spends many hours working on the tracks which appear on his show and album.
"It’s almost an art form; it’s so hard to produce," Bartley said. "You could spend weeks working on something, and then realize it’s just not going to happen – that can be one of the hardest things."
He hopes that one day soon he can start getting local, live gigs and wants to begin traveling to help get his name out.
"One of the hardest things for me right now is that I started so young. I’ve been invited to do shows in Detroit, even out of state, but since I’m only 16, it’s not like I can travel yet," Bartley said.
As for his future in electronic music, Bartley sees it as something fun to spend his time on now, but he doesn’t know if it is something that he will be doing forever.
"DJing is not something I’ll be doing as a career; it won’t be my main focus. There are other things I’d like to do than DJ full time; right now I’m focusing on graduating high school. But it is something I will be doing as long as I can," said Bartley

It's a Very good article, I got interviewed for like 2 hours then a photo session during one of m shows. Only problem is that they kinda messed up the whole live radio show I do and happyhardcore.com. Oh well. Im pretty pleased with it. Very big deal here in michigan since no one knows about hardcore or even electronic music.
