A lot of the recent posts that I've seen don't make sense even when they do contain proper spelling...

Posts like that, I just read over it quickly once or twice. Because just by seeing the first and last and or some of the middle letters depending how long the word is, you can tell what word the person meant...I think?
I received a chain letter in the past with a better explaination of what I'm trying to get it.

honestly, it is mainly the brits who do it, reason being : the mobile phone revolution
ever since text messaging became huge back in 97/98 and people were limited to only 60 letters (now its like 200) i think, people started shortening words because they we're limited to the amount of letters and numbers they could write, text messaging isnt half as big in the US as it is in britian, partly because some networks make it stupidly hard to text message (some you have to connect to the internet before you can send one). and so the US have'nt been cursed by this terrible affliction, as of yet.
anyway, point is here, you are not limited to how much you can write, so there is no need to write like a retard.
