Anyone else ever have days at work where there is little or nothing to do? I'm working at a museum and we have had all of 4 people come in today. THATS IT! and we close in 40 minutes. Last weekend we had 90 people here on Saturday and 50 on Sunday. Not big numbers, but enough to keep me busy. Oh well, at least I'm still getting paid. I just wish I could've been spinning records today. I did a fun hardcore into jungle mix before I came in this morning and I could have been much more productive doing that instead.
Thoughts pondered while bored at work:
How did my co-worker spend $36 on a bra?
And more importantly, what would she look like in it?
Wouldn't it be cool to have someone clean up the Inner Harbor(I'm from Baltimore, MD) the way a guy is cleaning up the Mississippi. Too bad the river is so toxic no one wants to get near it.
I wonder how this kid I used to work with died.
I need to get out more, I missed a whole bunch of good parties this week while on vacation, but that'll cost me too much money because I spent it all on vacation. But vacation rocked so its ok.
Bush is screwing up the economy, I need to get registered to vote and get rid of him soon.
People are actually spinning hardcore at parties around me?? That would be nice.
Sorry for the rambling, but I need some sort of connection with the world.

yeah i know what its like to be utterly bored at work. but its cool. With a computer you can talk, play, research, purchase :).
But to keep me busy ill just read an interesting true story novel. dont care much for the fiction stuff. True stories are what keep me interested in the story-line.

I'm like that every night at work. And yes, Baltimore sucks, well mainly the people. I bartend so I get to enjoy the company of Baltimores worst. Its all those alcoholics who get gov't checks and don't even bother tipping. My regulars rock but man, they are few and far between. Esp late at night. Uh, thats when all the jerks come out.
Fortunatly for you, you still get paid when you aren't busy. I don't .
Most days I'd rather be home spinning cause I lack the energy when I get off work, that and it's 2:30 - 3 am before I get home.
I should try to find a job at a decent club or hotel.

Now at Holden's, since there are no computers.....I just watch the cars get painted or watch them going around, since I often get told just to take my time
sped up trance, doesnt want to make me dance
give me some real hardcore, and its like ants in my pants

That sucks, here we dont even have that tipping culture. You get payd the same way, customers or no. So basicly if you buy something, the "service" is already included to the price.

jeremy and The 4th.... your feedback please....
Starbucks: They charge practically an Arm-and-a-Leg for their drinks and they even have a "Tip" Jar. Every shop i went to had a tip-jar and it never has money in it. I mean cmon its just coffee. Im just waiting for Jack-in-the-box and Mcdonalds to start asking for tips.

No, Mcdonalds does have that little thing for Cancer patients and such. I have no problem with those.
Im just talkin about starbucks wanting extra money for taking two seconds to prepare a drink. Restraunts (fast food or not) Don't have tip-jar's but Starbucks does.

I think tips should only be given if deserved. If I get service which is not up to scratch then I do not tip.

I really don't think I'd ever havea reason to tip the folks at Starbucks. Waiters in the states are making 2.38/hr. in most cases or something similar. they NEED tip money, you usually get a paycheck that says "This is not a check" and not because its direct deposit, but because taxes ate up all of the cash. So, yeah, Starbucks employees and the like, unless they do something amazing(nothing I can think of right now), I'm gonna pay for my overpriced, but tasty coffee and leave

Depends on the night. Sun-Wensday is OK. Thursday is when all the ghetto arseholes come in. Friday is packed (happily I don't work Fridays). Saturday varies. This Saturday is $10.95 all you can eat steamed and fried shrimp, hush puppies, mussels and a few other things I believe, from 6-10pm. They do have some killer food. Thursday is ladies night 5$ AYCD rail, domestic bottles, and draft for the ladies, 1$ domestic bottles for men. Its definitly a mix of people. All are pretty cool. More of the middle aged crowd to old. Late 20s and above.

like ya'll said, tips have to be earned.
If, at a bar or restaurant, you're are greeted with a smile and given good service from friendly staff I believe a tip is in order. If however you can read their dismay on their faces for having to serve another customer and they just put the food/drink there with a look on their face like they just bit a freakin' lemon, they ain't gettin' squat!
Would it really hurt to be nice? NO!
So smile and be nice if you wanna pay your rent dammit!
