I just can't believe how many people think that all there is to the scene nowadays is stuff like Raverbaby.

Dig a bit deeper and you'll find some of the best hardcore there has EVER been.

10 minutes listening to samples at nu-energy(and of course the shop here) will tell you there's more to life than the more 'commercial' side of hardcore.

That isn't a dig at the cheesier stuff either - just a reminder that there is an awful lot of good stuff out there if you look hard enough.

happy hardcore lives on!!>>>>

like i said before all this "nu hardcore" sound wayy to trancey and its quite slow! what makes it hardcore?? is it just the "loud symbol you hear after each bassline"..lol..i dunno i like odd oldskool breaks/happyhardcore! all these new tracks being put down almost every other week sound the same. i swear i have to speed some of them up maybe 10 bpms up! i like "new hardcore" but it would be LIKE 10x better if it was speeded up like 10 bpms.

another thing i think most people don't get is "old school" hardcore wasn't fast. it was usually around the 160-170 bpm (if even that) and what scared a lot of people away was all of the sets were turning into 175+.

people don't seem to understand that it doesn't have to be 180 bpm for something to be called "hardcore."

New hardcore is good, but happy hardcore is better. All the new stuff doesn't sound Unique like happy hardcore does.

It's nothing to do with moving with the time's. Obviously the music change's in time but it doesn't mean you like it. Does it?

its a good point mate but i dont like the people who slate the new stuff cos its changed. i think listening to old hardcores cool and i cant knock it for being old, but yeah i prefer new hardcore cos its to my taste......................................................but i hate metal

Obviously everyone should listen to what they want and i couldnt do without either old or new hardcore. I have to agree with DMS though that it cant be a good thing if people judge the whole hardcore scene today by one record label. I love my old tunes but i couldnt stick playing them all the time especially with the quality and variety of todays record labels. I've bought a couple of the raverbaby tunes in my time and at events theres definitely a want for sets of this type so let it be played. But if thats not your cup of tea dont give up there. I myself have been guilty of cutting off good music before i.e breakbeat hardcore and freeform. But at the minute the stuff i'm listenin to most is tapes of Mark Smith + Kev Energy, Mozz + Oli G, Luna C etc. Also if you feel nu hardcore isnt got the bouncy vibe you like check out old hardcore from spain and italy cos they've got plenty of classics that you probably wont have heard before that have the same principals as happy hardcore. As long as you can hear what you like we should all be happy we dont all like the same stuff.

Venga la familia makineros

Personally I prefer happycore as it tends to be more mellow and sweet. But if I was trying to convert someone into liking the music definantly the new stuff, it tends to have more appeal. I tend to find people just take the piss outa the old stuff, shame.
