its an english (maybe british) thing mate. GCSE's is short for General Certificate of Secondary Education.
its what we do in what would be the 11th grade (correct me if i'm wrong folks).
A Level is Advanced Level. Thats what we do when we're in 13th grade (starting with AS level in 12th grade which is half the course)
Make sense or did i lose ya mate?

Lost it, we only have 9 years of comprehensive school, first 6 years are primary school/elementary school, last 3 years are secondary school/junior high school. After that comes 3 years of high school or vocational school (though the law only forces you to go to comprehensive school), now even if i combine all of those i get 12 years. So.... exactly how old are you in 13th grade?

18, but u can leave school at 15..... GCSE (or any equivelent) is compulsory under british law. Beyond that is your own choice, but the government has recently brought in a new scheme that if you do decide to continue with school beyond just GCSE then it'll give you 30 pounds a week (and it would be right after i finish ).
Always remember; you are unique, just like everyone else
