that's kind of what I was thinking...I've spent so long trying to make my scratching sound different from sy's and still when I'll play out people say your scratching sounds like sy...bah =P

and I believe he lives in chi-town...

ive had my decks for about 4 months now but i only get to use them 2 days of the week, and im working on scratching, ive watched sy's video but im wondering, when pro's or good scratchers scratch do they leave the fader open, or is it a lot of in and out pulling the fader back and forth? like i know u have to bring the fader in and out but do they mainly keep the fader open to do there scratching

thankyou squishy :)

"or is it a lot of in and out pulling the fader back and forth? " <--- yes

and also no, lazer's n phazers are done with the fader open...but then again they can be done with it opening and closing lol

check out some of the hip hop turntablism sites, there are plenty of tutorials you can look into

most scratching is in the crossfader. you hardly move the record much when scratching in hardcore. if you're moving your record hand more than fader, you're doing it wrong =P

i'd recommend picking up something like qbert's diy dvd. get something that shows different angles of people scratching
