So, now I got a cdj and I could start buying tracks at imodownload, however I'm really scared that the quality isn't good enough. Sure, in my bedroom I hear no diffrence but if I ever get a gig I dont want to mix from vinyl to cd and it will sound bad.
What do you dj's say? Is the quality of the wms's at imodownload good enough to play out together with vinyl or shoud I just stick with vinyl?

anything that u pay to download off the internet will (well, should be) CD quality and perfectly suitable to play out with mate. i don't use a CDJ myself but i know people that do and they haven't seemed to have any problems (apart from if the actual unit starts playing up).
aside from that mate i haven't really experienced those enough myself to give a detailed account of their pros and cons or anything.

How can you prove that you legally got the wma and its not just a downloaded one from an illegal source?

i played some tracks from imo download this past weekend, worked just fine, quality was more than enough to play live with

They're on protected WMA's so only you can play them. Otherwise, it'll just never work on your computer if someone sends it to you.

pretty much, yah, though i don't seem to have that normalization problem, infact i find teh levels more on par with vinyl rather that the normal CD volume levels, which works better for consistancy

Ok, thanks for the input guys.
And mark-ireland: how do you prove that to own a vinyl and hasn't stolen it? By showing a reciept ofcourse, just like with everything else.

Yeah. I just remembered with my CD, I had to turn up the gain just to make it match. Even with the levels on 10.

Menion do you get a reciept when you buy a wma online?
It's a lot harder to have hundreds of stolen vinyl the it is to have hundreds of illegal mp3's on a few discs.

I heard that here you have to licence the CD, if its a CD-R. e.g. if you make a back up and play it "in public", you have to licence it, eventhough you had the original with you. Though i'm not too sure about that one, as i read it from another forum :p
But if this is true, then you have the same law in Sweden Menion. I suggest you e-mail NCB (Nordisk Copyright Bureau) and ask :) http://www.ncb.dk or e-mail the company that handles the copyrights in Sweden (http://www.stim.se i think?).

he, I know what you mean, I just pointed out that the only legally acceptable way to proove you own something is by showing a reciept. I haven't bought from imodownload yet but I'm sure they email you a reciept, I know evolution records do atleast.

The Wma Tunez are Cd quality 128 kbps, but if you want better quality use a song converter : media player or musicmatch jukebox sommit like that. You can make the songs 360 kbps which is the best quality but is giant in memory size. ( 5.29 min song 5.03 megs = 5.29 min song 10 megs)
The Downloaded tunez will be better quality than vinyl

128 is no where near CD quality. When you convert an 128 mp3 to 360, it changes the file, the quality of the music stays the same.
