yeah, the Prodigy are a class act - the first band/group I ever got really into way back then...I've always loved everything about them...
But - the new album (and the new single) dissapointed me. I really wanted to like it, and really wanted the Prodigy to make a bit come-back, like when The Fat of the Land came out, but it just hasn't happened for me, or the rest of nation by what I've seen in the charts etc. I listened to AONO solid for a week - almost as if I was forcing myself to like it - I even told myself I liked it! But there was something about it that just wasn't right.
This really really sadens me to say, but I think the prodigy should stop now. They've had their time - nothing can last. Don't get me wrong, I was sooo looking forward to the new album - I thought that if anyone could come back and shake up the music scene again it was them (well, I say them but its only Liam left now!) but it hasn't happened.
I want them to be remembered as the best band/group/whatever ever! (That's what I think of them, seriously!) Not as a band that was awesome but then released a string of albums when they got old that were shite. THIS HAPPENS TO TOO MANY BANDS! I fear this might happen.
Anyway, sorry about the long post - I feel quite passionately about this (I love the Prodigy so much and can't bear seeing this happen)
Any other thoughts on the album?

Yeah, give the album a couple of listenings and it will get better for every time. But i must say i enjoyed prodigy much more way back with Experience & Mfajg than now. Anyhow it's good to know they're still here! The video is wierd as always, too bad none of the members are with like in the past videos.

yeah, I think that's because they're not in the band anymore! There is no mention of them in the album sleeve and no photo there either. I also read on some prodigy website that it's only Liam Howlett left now (the guy that basically wrote all the music anyway) - all the other members have gone off to do independent solo projects.
That's probably one of the reasons why the album is different to the older stuff. I've listened to it over and over, and I do like it, but I haven't listened to it AT ALL in the last couple of weeks - that's saying something to me!
I do want them to do well so it's good to hear that people do like the new album.

Agreeing and noding my head to every word slavetomysoundwave has put down! I'm a big fan of prodigy, I love their old stuff. I still listen to Experience now and again and never get bored of it - it's got alot of character about it. but as for the new one, I too tried to force my self to like it but gave up in a week. I think it's time Liam understands that his day is over (but i don't want to say that in a bad way but there's no other way of saying it) their day was great and I'm talking experience/mftjg era < that was their time and nothing can beat it.
I think it's the Roland W30 and his hard work to understand every ****ing thing inside and out about that machine (he says that somewhere, that he spent a month indoors just learning that machine which I beleive is a sequencer/sample hybrid with a keyboard which came out in 1989)
I personaly think they went a bit down hill after getting too poppy with the FOTL release, don't get me wrong there's some great tunes on there like funkyshit and mindfields but it isn't the same, prodigy were always about hardbeats and melodies jumping into your face but I thought they were trying to hard (with FOTL) to make them sound and look rock hard.
I actually think the band itself was better in the eary days, they seemed more conected with the whole M25 feild raves (have you not seen the pic of keith on the experience album? looks like a hippy!) and then when FOTL came out liam looked like a surfer and keith turned from hippy to a punk and they were getting played on things like kerrang!/kerrap!
so there you go! didn't mean it to be that long.

i believe the band r still together but Liam done this album alone.
leeroy left about 2 years ago but keith and maxim r still part of the band.
the new album is cutting edge and original - something which the prodigy have been doing since Experience. They were different back in the day but that doesnt neccessarily mean better.
The charts are no example of an album's quality-do u rate natasha bedingfield???
i hope Liam continues to produce quality timeless albums.
