also, if you notice, freeform and the return of all this "oldskool" hardcore is really slowing the pace of hardcore a bit. Don't get me wrong, freeform has it's place, but the more breaky hardcore gets, the more it seems to be trying to immitate drum n'bass. I do like some of the breaky tracks, I just can't play a whole set of freeform. As for slowing down hardcore, I've never once had a record that even remotely sounds better below +1, ever. Pitch up, not down.
The more oldschool these producers try to go, the worse it tends to sound, because nothing is "oldschool", except Oldschool. It's time to move on. Lots of the freeform/oldschool stuff I'm hearing is at about 165/168 on +1, and now even a few tracks are starting to touch 158 again. We might as well be spinning hardhouse.
Ohh well, that's my yammering for the day!!

I always play at fast speeds. I don't think it's getting slower at all. I noticed a lot of fast mixes being released lately.

Blackcrow - if you're going to start a new topic, at least have a valid point.
There are some slower tracks out there but the majority are the same speed or faster than the stuff that was around a few years ago.
220 BPM is a stupid speed to play a 170-180 BPM track at.
-----------------------------
I dont think its a stupid speed to play "love me tonight", because i dont know, for me it just works.
I dont want any of you to say it wont work untill you try it, then you can tell me what you think.
Otherwise you have just made an assumption, which is'nt fair for me.
Get a winamp pluggin, or use windows media player to speed it up to 1.2.
(WM player speed)
And yeah sory,
i miss understood about the Pressing thing, sory whispering.

Don't quite agree, sometimes it is lots of fun. I try not to use tunes with lyrics though as then it will sound rubbish.

If my memory serves me right breakbeat hardcore was around before dnb so therefore it is not imitating it at all. And freeform hardcore I think the beauty of it is its freedom to go where it wants and do what it wants with each different track I hope that never disappears! I have to agree with you on pitch I generally play my records at around +6 and it would be very rare indeed for me to go into -anything.
