That is a lot of money, and i truelly feel sorry for you. It's not just something that would be inconvinent, but possible, to pay off, it's something that probably isn't possible anytime soon unless you have a lot of money :P
What did your parent/parents say?
You should just get a pay as you go simcard, because at least then you can't phone anyone unless you can afford it. Couln't you use a land line to? It's so so much cheaper :)

...and to think my dad goes insane when i spend half an hour on the fone to a mobile... his favourite line seems to be "only an idiot rings mobile phones" and every month we get a huge phone bill coz of me and my bro, lol. he must get really pissed off, poor fella, but $1700 is fairly impressive

I have to laugh sorry.... How could you not know you did not have unlimited or not? We don't even have unlimited talk time in Japan... I wish we had more competition it would work out better for the customers.

S.H.I.T ouch man that hurts i used to have a contract fone and my fone bills were a minimum of £100 a month and i had the fone for bout 5 years and my highest was £240 then the month after that it was £280 then i thought i would **** the thing off as i was outta money lol and never ever again am i getting a contract fone again :)

The exact reason I havn't got a contract phone so many similar things like to this have happened to people I know. Sometimes they trick you by advertising one rate then it will say somewhere in the small print that it goes up after a certain amount of time there not worth the hassle.
