Definately! Quite a scary resemblance...
As for the article, after a couple of hundred years you would start to dislike being alive I think, and would want to die. I'd think suicide rates would go thru the roof!

Let me get this right...If i retire @ 90 yrs old or somethin. Ill have 900 sum odd years to live? Holy $hit. I hope ill still have enough energy to mutter. "Just shoot me alreadyyyyyyyyy..."

Nope, you probably wouldnt retire... ever :p But at the age of e.g. 900 years, you would still have the same energy to go to a rave etc :)

As fantastic as living to 1000 may be, the effects of the ageing will be counteraccted by humanity pretty much bent on destroying itself.
Though the thought of living a star-trek life in 20 years time is amusing.

itd be pretty kool to live long but if u think wars/terrorism/crime would be thru the roof.
there would no onger be a "peaceful death" ur either killed or u commit suicide. itd be so depressing, newspapers full of sad stories of bombings,shootings, suicide.
notice how the world has been slipping down the cracks, geting worse and worse every day. i dunno if id wanna be alive when we all end up nukin each other

yeah, if you had to choose when to die it wouldn't really be a sad thing. you could let everyone know, get your things in order, have a going away party and have friends and family send you off on you last day.
sounds a lot nicer than how it is right now.

but that wouldnt work! youd get too emotional at your party and realise you didnt want to go... and even if you did... others may think, "oh he/she has gone... maybe its my turn..."
we'd all get suicidal!!

And who said the happyhardcore.com/forums were bad "these days" cool topic. I reckon living 900+ years would go bad for us underlings since, we're so bent on destroying each other. Someone would get into power and use us as slaves since we live so long. Just my theory, I'd definetly have a suicide party if that was the case!
