The store at my local town as always stocked Hardcore CD's and tape packs, which is nothing unusual, but they stock Hardcore vinyl now, so i was told, as i havn't been there for a couple of years, not that was a cool surprise, because i remember, i used to think 'i wish they stocked Hardcore vinyl here', and now they do :)

IMO hardcore becoming mainstream would be the worst possible scenario. It would destroy it. I have some die hard hip hop mates that hate the way their genre of music is so commercialised. And i would hate for HH to do the same.
What is so good about HH is that it never gets boring, if we started to hear it everywhere we go like you do modern dance then thats when it will get boring for the hardcore HH fans. Hearing the same track over and over again because it reached number 3 in the charts.
I dont no about you lot but i dont like what AATW, breeze and styles are doing. Hardcore tracks appearing on the same album (re clubland) as mousse T tracks??????? Hardcore should stay underground where it belongs.

^^^and meanwhile the DJs and producers earn sod all cash and less and less DJs will produce the muzik and less and less hardcore is made. how could that possibly be advantageous to the scene?

^^ ^^ Exactly agree with you bc mate the more the better and we could well do with a bigger scene over here. Would jus mean more money for better productions, events and everything.

Theres a fine line, cross it n it goes t its up, Most of u young un's wont remember the early 90's when Rave was massive, it ended up having a hardcore techno version of Tetris and mario in the charts, seseme street was in the top ten for ages, we are sailing but changed to we are raving was always being played, every 10minutes u heard sum core on the radio, then organisers started the idea of havin different zones for different types of rave in the end this killed Rave as we all know n loved, it ended up having silly amounts of genre's n sub-genres etc like Hardcore-Gabba-Techno-Bouncy techno-Happycore-Tartan Techno-Drum&Bass-Jungle-Garage-House-Hardhouse-Handbag house. In the end it split the scene as there werent enough people to keep each sub-scene alive.
They shouldnt have fixed sumthin that wasnt broken ie Every rave used to be like a 12-hour rollercoaster ride started with slow stuff like house type gear rising up the bpms each dj having his or her prefered type of rave endin at the xtreme Gabba stuff then going back down n sumtimes mixing it all up, that was Rave that was HARDCORE, 20.000 ravers bouncin about happy as f*ck.
In suming up, at the end of the day certain DJ's need to make money as they have mortgages, kids or girlfriends to pay for so they really need to maybe in a sense sellout to like likes of clubland cr*p just to make ends meet but i know there hearts are stuck in the core

Went to a student night in sheffield last week....Hated the atmosphere and the music in the club (Don't know why I went out really)....But bang in the middle of all the RnB and cheesy crap that was bein played...right out of the blue....They played "Children Of The Night"!?! It was the full hardcore version...full steam ahead....I went f*ukin !!
Then straight after.....went back to the normal stuff....I found this quite puzzling and odd....Maybe this was a tester of how hardcore goes down in mainstream type clubs...Don't think a lot of people appreciated it...but I was grinnin like a little freak!! .

student nights are often nostalgiac though. the A-Team theme tune gets played alongside Franz Ferdinand and Summer of 69 at my union, hence, I never go nemore. if they played Tantric or This is how we do it or summin then it wud b a completely different prospect-it wouldn't be for the memories and the sing-a-longs.

I just thought that it was a bit odd as it's the kind of club that would look down on hardcore...even on a student night. Think that's the first time i've heard hardcore there....probably the last too as i'm not exactly triving to get back. I'll stick to the Adelphi which has dougal,sy and the likes almost every weekend!

it's all hardcore.
:) Im only a newb coz im never bothered to post any messages...
(edit) ...it would be good if hardcore went mainstream, there would be more hardcore music about, obviously not all of it wud be good but im sure there wud be sum great tunes that come out. U cant just say "i dont want hardcore to go mainstream" because u think it wud ruin the scene. it would make it better, more music, more DJs, more money (and u cant say ur not bothered about makin money, uhave to make a livin sumhow) eventually people wud get tired of it and it wud just go back to how it is now, how wud that ruin the scene? its selfish sayin u dont want hardcore to get big, its like u want it to remain underground so u can say ur unique and u were one of the "original" fans but thats just stupid. Did that make sense, coz when i read it back it seems repetitive?

this is my theory, i do want it to go big sure but the problem is i dont think it will be controllable. i just dont want all these fake people that would say " ay look in a raver durrr, (dances around)" in the past be part of this. sure more new people would be great but i dont want what happened to hiphop happen to hardcore.
in the us there is not 1 dance track on mtv or nothing like that and i want to keep it like that. only show that is about dance is on mun2 and its no cover.
yea it does make me unique and i dont wanna lose that uniqeness because thats my identity, adn thats one of the main reasons. but in the future i will be a successful hardcore dj/producer so i wont mind it getting big around that time because i moved on to the next level and its all good because i have a part in controlling how it spreads.

Some Hispanic woman left a basket of treats outside our door with a balloon that says "HAPPY HOLIDAYS" attached... O_o
What I meant to say is that, well, it is the true nightmare if hardcore becomes mainstream. I truly doubt that in L.A. due to the population. Rap, R&B and Hip Hop have very few instruments and are extremely repetitive. There's always just a voice, a bass, a snare and maybe some hats or a melody of some sort.
With this sort of crowd, I believe they want to stick with this, and might even be scared of hardcore. Better yet, with the increasing violent and "tough guy/brawny b*tch" attitudes in the States, I doubt shirts will go from saying "brat" and "player" to "PLUR" and "lover". :) America's too obsessed with their action movies with the big explosions and girls with big breasts and big guns and whatnot to give a care for hardcore.
Frankly, I love it when they ask my who my favorite band is and I reply, "I listen to ARTISTS." :D
It's also pretty fun when a teacher likes to use me as an example... once in English class, my teacher pointed me out for an explanation on human rights.
"Now if you'll look at Rita, everyone might stereotype her and think she's depressed because she dresses this way and listens to rock music."
I laughed so hard and shouted, "And YOU aren't stereotypical? I'm Happy2BHardcore!" (of course, it literally sounded like "happy to be hardcore". )
So she was like, "I'm sorry-- hardcore ...punk, is it? Or hardcore metal?"
I prefer to keep it that way :D
