I was wondering, how come when a hardcore Dj speeds up a track from someone else its suddenly their own song and not just a remix? For Example, on Bonkers 11 Scott Browns mix, track 13 "Scott Brown: "Fly with you"". That song was not by Scott Brown, its by the dj GIGI D'AGOSTINO "I'll Fly With You". If anyone knows why please let me know.

It's called "Ripping" - nicking bits, piecing em together, it's quite cheap :/
usually it's illegal but a lot of rips dont press much (silk cuts for example) and the artists either dont find out or dont mind cos it's tune promotion really

every genre does it, it's not just exclusively hardcore. there are some artists that pay to use the original tune, but sometimes what you think is the original was really a sample taken from something else.

he didn't just speed up the original track, he put the vocal to his own music.

Yeah I've always wondered what artists would think if they found out that these HHC artists were ripping their shit. Would they say, "Hey, good job, that actually sounds pretty good!" ? Or would they slap people like Scott Brown and across the face and say, "Shame on you Blondie!"
::I don't see how P. Diddy could actually despise of "Definition of a BadBoy," hehe::
But back to the point, yeah I love it when shit is ripped. Makes me want to hear the original tune!

Oh ya don't get me wrong, I love it when stuffs ripped too, I was just curious so I wanted to ask people to see how the whole thing worked. I also like hearing the original version of the songs too. Its amazing how different some of them are.

When your talkin' bout the most ripped artist, it has to be Chuck D. I've lost track of the amount of tunes i've heard with samples from Bring The Noise (not strickly all Chuck D as its by Anthrax aswell).

Yeah i know, Scott Brown tends to get permission first aswell.
I think it's less common these days to "rip" i mean you don't see the likes of Silk Cuts anymore, there's still the odd tune here or there. If producer's go through the right channels to get samples it can really only benefit the original artist as well as the remixer.

**edit** A quick after thought, what i don't understand is how some artist's release a near duplicate of a track and call it their own eg; 2 Damn Tuff - Ruff Muff was exactly the same as Diss Reaction - Jiehaaaa only Diss Reaction's track was about two years earlier.

Is that from a DJ Rankin song? Well maybe its not his song, he did a mix of it im pretty sure. He should go to hell for ruining so many songs! Ha HA! Thats what this whole thread is about anyways, sometimes a song is in desperate need of a remix, sometimes you should reallt leave un-exploaded bomb shells alone. know what i mean?
