i think this happened because uh...he wanted to kill those extremists that were living on those little islands over there or something. maybe they were planning to do something even more devastating??

yeah that makes sense, 50,000 extremists, UNICEF estimates at least one-third – possibly half – of the dead are children...

earthquakes have been happening since earth was born, its nothing un-usual or hand of god like. they suck and they kill people.

you do know that the quake effected india, not the middle east dont you?

everybody donate if you are able to, not only do people need food, but health insurance and a clean up crew. anything rotting (i hate to say that but let's be honest with ourselves) in the street is going to spread even more disease, those people dont need any more horrible things happening to them :(

does kind of make you wonder though since Babylon was located where Iraq is =P

what really sucks is that sri lanka is at civil war (usually is =P) and the earthquake/tsunami uprooted land minds so they have a little extra suprise to deal with

"(not as bad as this though)"

no we've have been just as bad, and worse, this is nothing new, but still terrible

In 1887, about 900,000 people died when the country's Yellow River burst its banks in the worst-ever recorded flooding.

Sumbawa island in 1815 claimed the lives of more than 90,000 people as a blanket of lava and ash covered all around it, leading to agricultural devastation, famine and disease.

A single landslide in Peru in 1970 killed more than 18,000 people in the town of Yungay.

China suffered similar losses when an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.3 almost obliterated the north-eastern city of Tangshan in 1976. The official number of people killed was put at around 250,000, although some said the figure was more like 750,000.

Bangladesh was even harder hit in 1970, when a cyclone killed up to 500,000 people.

Shanxi and Henan provinces lost more than 800,000 people when they were hit, in 1556, by one of the worst earthquakes in history.

the list really goes on

this is the 4th worst earthquake recorded since seismagraphs came to use. I'm not gonna start worrying until people start getting boils, the water turns red, and the locusts come back =P
