Uh...And how? Most artists ::Looks at Sunrize:: would probably argue that hardcore in Walmart is a great opportunity for new hardcore enthusiasts.
I agree, Wal-Mart accounts for a lot of the major music industry. In fact, 1 out of every 5 major cd release is sold at Wal-Mart (ie. Eminem, Celine Dion, etc etc).
But actually, I hate Wal-Mart.
For years they have been using cd's & dvd's as a "Loss Leader" for their company, which means they price them cheap so they get people in their store in hopes they'll also leave with a new tv, clothing, vacuum cleaners, etc etc. So basically they have been taking a hit on all the new releases and actually losing money. But just recently they asked all of the major record labels to lower the cost that they sell their cd's to Wal-Mart for, I think it was to $9.88. Wal-Mart is sick of losing money I guess.
Now the question is, what are the labels going to do? If they don't sell them cheaper, Wal-Mart wont buy them and these labels will lose A LOT of sales. Wal-Mart doesnt count on music to make their money really and these labels are just fighting for floor space the same as Colgate is.
Doesn't really affect any hardcore artists though. Especially me, as they never did pick up This Is Noize 2, they only have the first one.
Say NO to Wal-Mart!
