Ive always been curious about this. Whats the atmosphere in industrial hardcore/gabber nights?

Im wondering, since the music is quite agressive, and I, for instance, use it to get myself wild and aggresive (in a controlled way), or when I feel down and chaotic. Its not the kind of music that you go to enjoy the happy and melodic rythms (as opposed to hardcore), but rather to "bomb you eardrumz".

Ive heard some crazy stories about gabbers, and in Spain, gabber equates baseball bats and violence. On the other hand, Ive heard that true gabbers are actually PLUR´s, so Im kind of curious at what the actual vibe is at those parties. I definitvely like to go one of these days to Hellraiser or one of those gabber nights at Helter Skelter.

cheers

anywhere you go you can find violence at a party. much like any party, it all depends on what kind of attitude the people who show up have.

most of the hardcore techno parties I was able to attend when I was younger were some of the best moments of my life...even if I don't remember most of what happened =P

american gabber parties are a little differen't than european gabber parties. but i'm sure that if thunderdome was just a place for violence, it wouldn't have lasted so long. at the american gabber parties that i've been to, people just dance around like at a punk rock show.

don't stand and stare, just kick your legs in the air

European gabber raves are cool if you like uniformity or you're one of the "gabbers" (like me :p).
a few thousands of bald heads and undercuts bouncing up and down (that impression is caused cuz everybody is bussy "hakkeh!") to the bassline. Mainstream gabberparties are usually the ones drawing the biggest crowds (over 10.000 ppl in the place isn't rare at all) but then there are industrial parties. usually they're a little smaller than their mainstream counterpart cuz their audience is also less numerous, then again, still, a lot of ppl still come to check out the industrial/frenchcore sounds. the vibe isn't the same as at a gabberrave, the "nothing but hardcore"-mentallity is a little less present cuz industrial hardcore and industrial techno are usually thrown together for max effect.

As for gabber being violent and shit... well, everywhere you find violent ppl but the ones ppl talk about when they say gabbers are usually the rightwing extremists that always wanna fight (regrettably there are a lot of gabbers that behave like this) but I must assure you that it is less common as it may seem. I've been attending raves for two years now, all of them Gabberraves or industrial raves (save one, that was breakcore) and I never had any trouble with my fellow partyppl. usually there is an extreme feeling of unison there and most ppl will not get mad or frustrated if you at least show them respect.
