I'm quite new to the hardcore scene and am still looking for my favourite type of sounds in hardcore.
Dougal & Gammer - Crack Whore, this is the type of hardcore i'm looking for (real hardcore). Does anyone know where I can find more tunes similar to this? - an album or something.
Is there a name for this type of hardcore.. like 'acidcore' or whatever?
Because the trancy stuff gets annoying, gabba is too noisy, the old stuff is too happy?? I'm rather confused at the moment about hardcore.
Any help appreciated, cheers

well Dougal & Gammer have made 2 other tunes sort of similar to the style of Crack Whore... Those being 'Xtreme' and '3000 Cycles', but i'm not really sure about any similar sounds to that in terms of albums, sorry.
*EDIT: To elaborate, my full name is Chris Pinnell, lol!

personally ive been refering to it as grimey hardcore, its not really an established sub genre but a style dougal and gammer have been doing since "3000 cycles".

Dougal would possibly say he's trying to produce a more German sounding hardcore style at the moment. Its a little bit darker and rougher than the hardcore we're used to but I love it! All credit to Dougal n Gammer for all these styles of tunes! Quality

yar.. just right! and this is the type of tunes/CD im looking for, but nobody seems to know of anything? So at the moment im stuck with repetative trancyPOO sounds!
I want mental acidy sounds, ravin madness, rumbling bass and bangin tunes.. i.e crack whore
anybody here know of any?

respect to dougal and gammer for making crack whore, xtreme and 3000 cycles. its so much different than the trance which is getting quite boring for me now aswell. i hope they make many more like it and i hope others do too

i reckon the sound was tweaked from tunes like Stomp and their version of Hardcore(You Know the Score)... ****ing banging though

mark shark - the sound/sounds can be done in Reason. I made some wacked sounds like that yesterday
All you really need for something like it is a hoovery type patch on a subtractor, a band pass filter, and the scream4.
I was trying to re-create it too, but more importantly the morph from the bassline to the screaming noise. You will also need an LFO on the pan.
Some people say it cant be done in Reason, but in reality, you just need to be |33t.
