I call Hard Dance Hard House, when reffering to the DJ's you mentioned :)
I wouldn't call Gabber a sub genre, but i wouldn't say that it's in a genre of it's own either, i just class it as Hardcore anyway (a form of), but i don't know technically wether it is or not :)

on the slinky and frantic websites they label themselves as hard dance superbrands. and there resident djs are the likes of andy farley and lisa lashes etc. so i wud call it hard dance. each to their own tho

i call it trancecore really laydeeraver as it sounds like trance but with a higher BPM
and loz the record companies call themselves hard dance as they cover all genres of dance but slightly 'harder' whilst the DJ's you mentioned play mainly 'hard' house

I believe for all electronic music there are about 180 different genres.
the main ones are House, Trance, Techno, Breakbeat, Jungle, Hardcore, and Downtempo. After that the sub-genres get messy.

Ahhh yes. Music snobs unite!!!
What will really cook your noodle is attempting to comprehend the number of sub-genres out there.

Basicly it differs by the country and the people you talk to. There are a lot of genres that have same names, but have diffrent meanings in diffrent countrys. e.g. there are 3 Trancecore genres (that ive heard people use) that are diffrent. Also Hardcore in that Ishkur's guide is wrong, nobody (thaat i know) uses those definitions.
If you want to know the proper genre names, you shouldnt listen purists nor newbies. But listen to the people you talk about the music, cause its best to use their definitions, rather then use the ones some purists insists people to use.
Hard Dance in my books is Hard House, Hard Trance, Hardcore etc genres that are Hard Dance, doh :p
Gabber is a subgenre of hardcore, its basicly just Dutch Hardcore. Same way as e.g. Freeform and Makina are subgenres of Hardcore. I dont like genre names that much, so i only use the obvious ones. Like Japanese, Dutch (Gabber), Spanish (Makina) and UK hardcore (I use that name for the new stuff, Freeform for the well Freeform stuff, Happy Hardcore for the older stuff, Oldskool for the really old stuff).
Well Japanese Hardcore isnt really a genre of its own, it just mixes all hardcore genres however they want, witch makes it so good, no boundaries :) I think nobody else uses that name, witch makes it rather stupid for me to use it :D

W3RD. The real artists/supporters dont care. Its the people who like to organise their mp3 collections that do.
