http://www.happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21050 'Happy' Hardcore arena??? Not Nu Skool, old skool, freeform, "UK Hardcore" or any of the other recent sub-genre names that have appeared recently...but "Happy Hardcore" . Shame it's in Hungary though... Just thought i'd share that with you all...just so you'll know. ---------------------------- Always remember to forget The things that made you sad. But never forget to remember The things that made you glad.

People who say Happy Hard is dead are just stupid. Australia never has Happy Hardcore arenas, they're always called Hardcore arenas, but that's because it's not just Happy Hardcore, there'll be Hardcore and possibly Gabber played in there as well. But every single rave I ever go to always has Happy Hardcore in the Hardcore arena, and for a good proportion of it (something like 75%)... so pretty hard for it to be dead.

Happy Harcore is a sub genre in it's self and doesn't really exist anymore although alot of the new stuff has a happy vibe to it it is not happy hardcore. There is still the ocasional tune being produced (generally not by the big names though) and party's still go on ocassionally that play REAL! happy hardcore but it general it no longer gets alook in. If you don't believe me just listen through the new releases or go to a big name party eg. slammin, uproar etc and see for yourself just how much coverage it gets!
I'm not anti happy hardcore I love it and have done for years infact i wish it was played more at party's but im just stating a fact.

Yup, happy hardcore is still in session. It just can't die. I think More people should be more optimistic about this situation.

I'm interested in what exactly you classify as Happy Hardcore, because by my classifications a lot of it is being produced down under. A lot of our DJs even classify themselves specifically as Happy Hardcore artists, not just Hardcore. Take, for example, Fenix, he calls himself a Happy Hardcore artist, and his party just gone by, Hard Wars, had himself, Weaver, Marcos and Suae representing Happy Hardcore. So I don't see how it is dead in any way, shape or form. Seems very alive to me. _________________________ The only part of your body that should be partying too, every hour on the hour is the rebel in you! (Scott Brown - I Don't Need Nobody)

most people are trying to get away from the "happy" as it is associated with sped up vocals and cartoony type music that made lots of people dislike hardcore.
a good chunk of promoters here won't take you seriously if you tell them you spin happy hardcore as it is associated with candy crap and e puddles.

not on the west coast, happy hardcore and hardcore are getting bigger, there are some dj's here that play primarily older happy hardcore, then there are dj's like myself that play the happier upfront style, and there are dj's that play both.

Well cant speak for other countries but in England what I class as happy hardcore died off around 1999-2000(ish) stuff like toytown, steamtrain, now is the time, field of dreams etc etc etc in favour of the new skool sound we are hearing today from hixxy dougal etc. I do not class what they are making today as happy hardcore and yes happy hardcore parties still happen I mix it myself from time to time but they are few and far between in comparison to the nuskool sound of the millennium.
Essential Platinum
Blatant beats - Next generation
Quosh
Evolution
Just a few labels that use to make happy hardcore and no longer do plus all the ones that have disappeared since its demise e.g. Impact, Go mental etc etc etc
