Just recently I've had the crazy idea to start my own business and start organising rave events in my local region. However, I've got no clue whatsoever how to start or how much money it takes to get off the ground. I know there are some event organisers on the site, could someone give me some advice on how I might begin?

First things first:

Decks,
Mixer,
Lighting,
Speakers,
Amps,
Crossover,
Equipment transport,
Venue,
Security,
Dj's

And the knoledge to set them up properly! These are the bare essentials.

Will take a while to get these basics (unless ya loaded!) and it's usually not easy to venture into by yourself you should consider a business partner or 2 to spread the load.

You should start small and build yourself up gradually do not try to jump in at the deep end because it will not work believe me gather what knoledge you can from doing small local parties before throwing any sort of reasonable sized one.

Advanced planning and advertisement are very important do not try to throw an unadvertised last minute party it just wont work!

You will be looking at £15'000 upwards for a TINY little starter rigg so you may want to look at hiring to begin with if you dont have the money or equipment straight off. good thing is you can just add to youer existing system when you have spare money there is no need to replace with new stuff every time you upgrade.

Important bit of advice! Dont cut corners with cheepo equipment it will not do you any favours!

Good luck man im sure you'll have lots of fun even if ya do pull out some hair along the way!

Thanks Bulby. Pretty much what I expected - very expensive. Hehe. Hopefully after a year or so of saving I'll have enough money to kick it off the ground.
