Do You Think Hardcore will ever replace House/Trance/Dance or anything with a bpm of less than 140bpm, as the preferred music of choice for a majority of listeners of in the next 3-5 years

I Can Never Face Another Day.....Yeah....If there ain't no raver's groove to let me play...."

Ummm... Nope. Not at least in the US. You are hard pressed to find ravers that like HC/HHC in the US, never mind any possibility of commercial appeal ^_^

Nope... not when record companies can easily mass produce cheesy top 40 crap like Britney Spears and crud like that.

Another reason that techno won't become to mainstream and why ppl like Brittany Spears (forever after know as BS :) stay popular is the big labels. When they make a person like BS popular not only can they sell tons of her records, but they an also sell her "image". They can put her in commercials for Pepsi and what not and every time thay do they get a little cut of they money she makes so they get double profit. It is much harder to sell the image of a "real" techno artist cause they won't be on stage singing and it also takes some skill to make techno (I think??? lol) so it's harder to just manufacture "bands" ^_^

Hardcore is just that- Hardcore. I don't think it will ever have tremendous commercial success in (At least) the U.S. As a matter of fact the first time I heard Hardcore I hated it. 'Too fast, Really loud, and annoying'. It really took me a loooong time to like it, and simply going from my experience- a lot of people who listened to the same set that night still hate hardcore. Happy or otherwise. That's a rough ratio of 2/5 people exposed to hardcore coming to enjoy it. Not to mention the lack of exposure in my area (about maybe three out-of-state hardcore acts a year, again happy or otherwise). It's nice to imagine, though.

Not in the UK, the dance industry seems to have a war against hardcore.

You're telling me mate! I don't know whereabouts you hail from, but in Preston(Lancs) where I live, it's damned impossible to find stuff amongst the Hardhouse, Garage(*shudders*), Rap, R'N'B etc, et-fecking-cetera.

Happy hardcore in Europe esp. Germany WAS top 40 stuff, I remember walking into McDonalds there in 1995 and hearing happy hardcore. Tracks by Scooter and Dune where all in the charts.

That's true even in Australia, when around 1995, Interactive's "Forever Young" and "Living Without Your Love" was popular as well as Tokyo Ghetto Pussy's "I Kiss Your Lips" . From what i notice about ' Harder' Techno music in Australia is that it tends to keep disappearing only to emerge once in a while as a Hard Dance Tune in the Top 40's.

Too many people who like trance and such have a dislike for happyhardcore. So i do not think it will replace them. And i hope very much it dosent get too popular. I enjoy listening to music that people have no clue about. Its fun watching the look on their faces.

Hello. I love you.

I can think of something else BS stands for!

Pop music is not about music, it's all about image, crappy dance routines and most importantly, making money, Pop Idol and all the variations on it have undoubtedly proved that. If your face doesn't fit then you've no chance. What is supprising is that the last few years there has been a couple of the more liquid type of D+B records getting into the mainstream. I've heard Shy FX's Shake your body, and Lk by Mark E and XRS with MC stammina (I like it, We like it, You like it tooo, you know the one), and Barcelona more recently being played on radio 1 during the day. So there could be a chance of hhc ect. making the charts day.

GT!! I am also in Preston, and yea it's shit for the HHC scene, The Mill on Aquaduct Street used to be OK, I think its called Club Sugar now but I aint been for years. A mate of mine put on a night every two weeks at the Carribean Club, There was a bit of everything, Garage/D+B/old school hhc, but it allways used to end up with this hard trancy stuff that the locals liked, anyway It only lasted a few months. I'm well suprised to find someone in Preston on an international forum, ha ha
