Hi all - I figured as there's so many quality DJs in this community, it'd be a decent place to ask this!

I recently (like 2 weeks ago, but been mixing on other decks for a while now) got my decks (TT500s with a Stanton SK-1 mixer) and I set them up in my room against my back wall, which is right undearneath my window, so when I'm mixing, I'm facing my window.

On the first night, I completely forgot about the fact that the sun rises right through that window, and I ended up with a pringle shaped vinyl (Spencer and Gammer - Dubcore/Aurora) that still plays but won't cue very easily - stupid mistake I know, I was gutted and learned the hard way not to leave vinyls on over night.

My question is this: Will having my decks and speakers in direct sunlight for about 3hrs~ every morning damage them? (The actual decks, not records) I'm having a blind fitted in about a week so it won't be an issue then, but I don't want to wreck anything in the mean time. I was thinking I could put a cover or a blanket over them at night maybe.

What do you think?

thanks,
Joonz

i aint no Dj but i recon its the same as most electronic things, direct sunlight aint great for them but shouldnt harm them so much to notice! i recon untill u get ur blind fitten then a cover or something over them should be fine!

Cool - as long as I won't wake up with a straight tone arm shaped like an S one... lol.

Thanks for the advice, just wondered if anyone had any horror stories about it - sunlight and mixing don't seem to go well! I'll get a white blanket over it for now until I get my blinds fitted, and hopefully I won't trash anything else. Thanks for the advice lads,

Joonz.
