How is NAHM is exploiting on the level of promoting! Putting a hardcore music on a video-game is selfishly putting it on there for reasons for "video and media" factors and which takes away from the actually artistic value of what it really is intended for. How dare you call me a dumbass for expressing my views on video games and hardcore music together. For the person with the laughing faces and nice work...well your simply foolish for agreeing with a foolish comment. Always happens on here and on any other forum...lol.. ::sighs::

I'm calling you a dumbass, because you are uninformed.
Talk to any hardcore artist, and they will tell you that having a track of theirs in a game is a huge honour and priveledge. Its not selfish in anyway shape or form, and contracts need to be signed (its actually quite a formal process) and its a big effort to put an existing song in a game, as opposed getting a song made for a game.
As for artistic value. I guess you've never been to a rave. Hardcore is dance music, hard dance music. Its meant for dancing.
Do you pay any attention to the structure of the songs? Note the 64+ bar Dj intro, the predictable breakdown (where you can get some water) the build up (getting ready to dance) and then the climax (where you can dance your nuts/boobies off).
Have you considered, that the creators of the game(s) like the track enough, so much so, that they reward the artists by paying them to liscence it?
Thats why I call you a dumbass, cos you don't know :P

Thats only because of the slots that you have to put them into. Like for my letter box.
It sucks when punk kids think its really funny to blow up the letter box, ears and fur goes everywhere.
Damn mail-order puppies.

My view is not about the artists selling out. They can do whatever they want or plan to do. My view is on how america will treat it like anything else that's come here.
I used to love trance. In '01/'02, it started to become popular here. I went to hardcore. While I'm persuing hardcore, trance has become really well known here. Anything that becomes mainstream here automatically turns to shit. There is nothing in my mind that has improved once becoming mainstream here in USA.
Is hardcore becomes mainstream in america, you will get so much shit. Like people who are wannabe DJs (say they are but not even can mix), etc. I can't really think off the top of my head, but if it becomes popular here, it will become a fad. It will die off and then worsen it's status.
I think the place where it's at right now is perfect. Popular in UK is fine because they don't make much of a big deal about it. Here, people become obsessed, and when it's over, they'll just leave. It'll be used, essentially.
Of course, you will say, "But you're thinking of all the negatives. Think of the positives!". I did. I weighed them both out and the negatives totally smash over the positives. I know there are some that will agree with me. But as I'm posting this on Hhc.com forums, there will be a big lashback towards me and my opinion of people trying to persuade me otherwise.
yaddam205: You're post and how it was worded totally made me lose respect for your opinion. Also, calling people names will start flaming.

I'm not going to pursuade you otherwise. I'm going to tell you that you are wrong.

First and foremost, no bookings. Who would they play out to if they dont get booked? Worsen its status? You should try talking to your government about that. You have the RAVE Act, which, in effect prohibits rave paraphenalia. Worry about the government first, not so much the music scene. If anyone is killing the scene in the US its the government.

Erm, yes they do. When they advertise Bonkers and Clubland on TV, thats a big deal :P
quote: Anything that becomes mainstream here automatically turns to shit.
Of course, because artists like Rank1, Ferry Corsten and Tiesto are now crap. And I guess the Prodigy were crap too? What about Aphex Twin (who has had clips on MTV)
One of the only negatives that I see, is that we will be getting hardcore remixes of pop songs. Which they play on pop radio stations. Oh no. Thats terrible. Bad remixes? Even worse. Do the Dj's choose what they play? Yes. I dont see the problem.
If the DJ's still have a choice, then what wrong? Will they play those bad remixes to pull a crowd? How is that any different to a DJ hammering out a RaverBaby set?
Your fears are unfounded.
I would be interested to know if the Jungle/DnB scene has the same worries.
