i started a rant about this in another topic but thought id open up a new one and get ure opinons. just to start im going to chuck a few statistics in. 1/4 of all men and 1/7 of all women in the uk drink more than the recommended amount. over 25,000 people die in the uk each year from alcahol related diseases, this is over 50 times more than all other illicit drugs put together. on top of that there are around 17,000 drink related deaths on the roads per year. Also in 1999 the British crime survey estimated that there were approximately 1.2 million alcohol related crimes.
I'm not trying to say that alcohol should be made illegal or that illegal drugs should be legalised but i think people should look more seriously at the effects of alcohol. Theres shit loads of anti drugs campaigns, you cant go anywhere without being told your ugly, smelly and going to die if you smoke but alcohol? theres some drink driving adverts and tiny little notices at the bottom of adverts and packaging saying enjoy yourself and drink responsibly. Theres a bit of a discrepency here in my opinion. Anyway sorry for the shitting long post itd be cool to get ure views tho

i think though that there are so many incidents because it is legal, if i wanted some E's, cocaine etc quite frankly i wouldn't know where the **** to turn to get them whereas if i wanted a 6 pack all i have to do is walk to the corner shop
personally i think if illegal drugs were legalised it would be alot safer to use them as the gtovernment could impose there own rules to them and could make themselves to ensure the product is good so people know they're not taking some pill that possibly has some poisonous cutting agents still in it
i don't use illegal drugs so i am either here-nor-there

Alcohol makes me depressed.. thats why i dont drink as often as i used to, and man i agree wid u 100% coz as much as pple wanna argue or be against drugs we all know dat alcohol & cigarettes are usually worse because of the death rates.
Now, because drinking and smoking are socially acceptable and 'legal' this means its all good!?.. nah. What aint fair is that some people smoke/drink to look cool or to relieve stress but just because we are doing something that is illegal for our own reasons its not right? Im sure when i go to a rave i am doing it for the right reasons, i do it to open up and to feel the complete experience of a rave and to feel the music on a much deeper level.. im not doing it to look cool. Im not trying to start any arguments here u know but considering E's are the only other drug i have taken other than alcohol/cigarettes/weed its a bit unfair to always hear people talk about the bad effects of drug use when alot of us here do it responsibly and in moderation. Any1 with half a brain should know you dont abuse a privelage and quite frankly people constantly talking about the bad effects of using drugs and such is making me feel like i am gonna die at my next rave...
Once again this is just my opinion im not trying to start any arguements with anyone.

Yep completely agree with everything you've said. I drink what I consider to be to much, I only drink fridays and saturdays unless its someone birthday or something but I'm pretty sure the quantity I consume on those two evenings is way passed the recomended amount. I do pills or mdma (preferably mdma as its cleaner) 1 - 2 times a month at the most and I take as little as possible when I do just enough to feel the effects. After summing all this up I would say my worst drug problem is with alcahol without a doubt and I'm more concerned about what that is doing to my health than XTC.

Itll be more than that soon when that new law comes through that pubs and clubs can open 24 hours

I cant understand how drink is legal and hash isnt.
Nobody fights while stoned but thousands of people fight when there drunk.
Hash causes no problems to society but drink does.

i dont drink, dont smoke, and have never taken any drugs. including paracetamol.(got given summit when i had meninjitis...)
i dont do very much exersice. but i can still run a mile without much trouble.
i dont get hurt very easy. (stoic)
i dont get headaches. - well cant remember the last one.
i drive alot, and enjoy track days and such like and completely hate n e one tht doesent pay full attention to there drivin ie drunk/stoned, or even smoking in there car or mobile phone!.
(much to the dismay of fellow trackday ppl. my stereo will play hardcore at 147db! think jackhammer..)
i dnt ever feel phsicly depressed/fatigued. and i get on with women very well .
im not a health freak. i just dont do any drugs.
i would recomend n e one to give up drugs+alcohol+smoking+tea+coffee
for one whole month. n if u dont feel better for it. then, well, carry on.
unless ur fine as u r!
i can still have a fantastic night out, and feel great naturally.
as for legality. there are too many laws i think. there shouldent be a need for so many. alcohol is abused. alot. any thing is ok in modderation though really. i wont take anything. cos i dont need to. and im fine as i am.

recommended amount is too low, 3 glasses of wine for a female is about 1.5 standard wine glasses.
I really have no problem with people getting tipsy, it opens people up and they still have control of what they do
Its only when they go over the line and throw up everywere, is when I really dislike it
and normally when you get the next day hangover, it puts you off next time and makes you more in control
edit: I know ppl who drink and get high, they wet the bed when they fall asleep hehe
funny but sad

Weed should and near enough is legal.
The fact is all drugs (including alcohol) have bad long term effects, its all about the risk you a willing to take.
