Kathryn, I'm not exactly sure what your question is but I think I got it.
A scene is just basically...just defined by a genre of music and the people who listen to it. We're part of the Hardcore scene, Rave scene, whatever you want to call it.
But see, there's the Punk scene, Rock scene, Hip-Hop scene, etc.
I'm sure you get what a 'scene' is now...

Any "sick" is just slang for awesome, great, cool, wickid...
just as is "madd" is slang for 'very'. "that's madd cool!"

So basically he was just saying that the scene, rave culture whatever is doing pretty well out in California.

Who the hell said that hardcore is spreading on the west coast? I've lived in LA all my life, and no matter what direction you look at it, hardcore will always be underground in every city. Yes, maybe it "seems" like it's getting bigger (in both San Francisco and LA), but it's actually dwindling. Hardcore djs (I being one of them) rarely get booked anymore in So Cal. Record shops, such as Phusion Records, have closed down.

The UK is so far ahead of the USA as far as musical innovation goes. All we can do is wish, dream, or cry.

I dont completely agree.
I have also noticed that there have been less and less events with hardcore. But the scene isnt going away. Im trying my best to expose hardcore to as many people as I can, and to the people I introduce, Its looks more like more and more people are getting into it.

You shouldnt completely count out the hardcore scene in So Cal and say "all we can do is wish, dream, or cry." I dont think it will get to how the UK is, but it should do good enough. I do agree that hardcore is and will continue to be majorly underground here though.

DJ Spree is from America, I have downloaded some of his sets free from his site but he dosnt do much sets these days (only 1 this year) and some of them are live from raves in and around the states some going back to 1998. DJ Anabolic Flolic also mixed some of the Happy 2 B hardcore albums and i think he is from america but most of the stuff in their mixes seems to be mostly from this country
