This website from archive.org has the most info I've found. Not all the links work though, seeing as the site is down and is working off archive.org's spiders.

I will admit that the old skool vibe of hardcore kicks the pants off vibe thats on in the scene now.

*feels all plurry and nostalgic*

kathryn, your wish is my command.

ecstatic_manic_erocdrah, the wikipedia article says:

quote:
The term originated in the Netherlands, and is derived from the Yiddish word khaver, meaning friend. Apocryphally, one of these gabbers wanted to enter a club in Amsterdam, where the bouncer said, "No gabber, you can't come in here."

Also this is what is says about gabber.

quote:
Gabber originated in Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Rotterdam is the holy shrine of hardcore house music / gabber. Many consider Rotterdam Termination Source's Poing! (1992) to be the archetypal gabber track. The record shop Midtown in the Nieuwe Binnenweg of Rotterdam is one of the shrines of Gabber music.

I'm sure Knightmare would have more info.

I reckon aussies created hardcore
in the 70s when we invented the sampler, a guy when "wow thats hardcore" in a bill and ted voice
is that enough proof for you?

scott brown invented bouncy techno girgoair mate, the dutch invented real hardcore(gabba) but the breakbeat/happy side of things was invented in england.

I think the dutch made the best old happy stuff aswell, uk spanish and italian is all good aswell but happy gaaba had the perfect mix of bouncy, hard and cheesy.

(Thanks ryg0r! ur so kind!)

Trip down memory lane for me there and i have to say the most annoying song appeared on there which is:

'Time for Trumpton'

Now that used to mess my head especially when it was blasting from the speakers!
