Hey guys.. im just curious, is this going to be another one of them 1-2 minutes per track mixes?
Im really looking forward to hardcore heaven 2 being released although i dont wanna be hearing a good tune being mixed out of or ending after 2 minutes, and since Kevin Energy managed to fit 24 tracks onto one cd within 75-80 minutes, i think this is more likely to happen.

yes this is likley, but i think it is quite good. The thing with freeform is that some of the tracks can get repetitive if they go on for the full duration, so i think 1 - 2 minute tracks are quite good. Although i dont like them too short, like track 1 of sharkeys mix on B14, its like 1 and a hlaf mins long. They gotta be 2.30mins long at least!!

Personally I agree with RAVIN9 I hate it when people just mix a tiny bit of a tune it works some times but not for a whole mix. Looking at all them tracks being squeezed onto 1 cd I would say this is gonna be the case, bit disappointing IMO.

Tell me what you all think?
Thanks!
I hope it is, freeform sounds much better when the tracks are only a few minutes long and there's lots of them. When Kevin Energy does this, you usually get a decent variety of sound.

but look at it from another point of view.
more mixes = more tracks = more tuneage overall!!
kev is mixing like this to keep the adrenalin flowing, and i think it works!! it also allows more opportunity for up n coming producers to get their tracks featured on albums such as this....

Thats true and is one plus side of it but i still dont like this type of mix. I like to apreciate whole tracks and you just cant do this when you hear:
mix in,
one break from the tune,
mix out,
you just dont hear enough of the tune, just my opinion though.

Good point, so this will be more like a sampler for people new to hardcore, meaning they can hear 24 diff traxs and then find the names easily, but not good for people like us, how know all the shit already, bah

Kev's well good at cuttting n scratching, i cant wait to hear his mix, i look forward to the freeform CD's more than the upfront ones now.
As for only playin 2 minutes of a tune, as already said theres good and bad sides to the argument, wish he would played out the whole of the first tune on HH1 though (Fly With The Beat), what a screamer that is!!

tbh I thought some of his cutting was a bit pants in the last cd sounded out of place on a couple of mixes.

Not normally too keen on over quick mixin but i've got a thunderdome mix somewhere with about 46 tracks in one mix and somehow make it sound amazin.

i think it worked well on HH1 for him, and not every song is like 2 minutes, most of them were the first 7 songs then it got longer from then on, 11 tracks were under 3 minutes, the rest were generally around 4

yeh kev's mix will do it for me. i am loving the freeform stuff much more than upfront these days.
I love the cutting snd scratching kev does but i must agree that some on the cutting he was doing on HH1 was abit off, overall it still sounded quality. I would like him to use more than one scratch 2, in HH1 i believe he used the same scratch all the way through, abit of a mixture wouldnt go a miss!!!!
And as for fly with the beat - TUNE!!! got it on vinyl - love it!! Promises was another gooden!
i like his tunes........ yea i noticed on HH1, his cd had alot of tracks on it and some were quite short.... whats the definition of "freeform" as opposed to hardcore?
