It really, really sickens me.

I don't think I'll post anymore in this topic as I'm completely disgusted by the actions I've seen on the news and read. All I can say is, how can people be so selfish when they should be thankful they are alive!

It seems we constantly differ in opinion.

When natural disasters happen we have our survival instinct that kicks it. I do think that people sometimes do what they need to do to survive. All manner of civilisation crumbles when things like this happens. We can't control nature, I think thats why we fear it the most.

How would I like it if it happened to me? In comes the dog eat eat mindset - you ain't touching my crap if I can help it.

Lets face it, they were ill prepared, there will be people that won't/can't get rescued/fed. What would happen with a limited food supply? You know the traditional rules - women and children first.

I guess the world will never be as perfect as we want it to be, there are always things that could have been done better, but we're only here for a short time (80yrs is short in the grand scheme of things) I guess it is nice to look out for other people though.

I dunno, sometimes you have to forget all else for your own survival because more ofthen than not, people aren't looking out for you.

From what i've watched it seems that although they've got through the storm a lotta people are still dying, babies are goin hungry and people are angry not much seems to be getting done to help them.

As people have said they were warned to get out the city, but when your livin on benefits/minimum wage or watever it aint exactly easy to just find money in a short space of time. I think some people aswell simply couldnt get out even when they tried. And about leaving all there possesions i think some people had underestimated how bad the storm would hit so didnt want to leave everything behind.

Then what there left with is no law so the scum of the city have took full advantage tryin to take control with rapings, beatings, murders etc the same thing a lot of occupying troops around the world do. It's horrible and wrong about shooting the helicopters but it defo looked on news as if they see the government as enemies anarchy is set in. America's paid a lotta money helping evacuate people from gaza strip and they feel they're been treated as second class citizens and left to die in there own city.

Shoot to kill's always a last resort but by what i've heard it looks as if law really needs to be taken however possible cos until they do that people cant be safe. Aswell as the looters etc theres a lot of innocent people stuck there havin to live this chaos i just hope they get them safe as soon as possible.

*Edit*

Couldnt have put it better than rygor. I still remember at school we got a visit from fire brigade who said every night they have to deal with people calling them out to attack them with bricks, anno thats on a much smaller scale than whats happenin but it's same theory. When people feel treated as second class citizens or enemies by the government they backlash, it's not a gd thing but throughout history is always the way it ends up.

i totally agree about heart goin out to the people who had to go through this and i've heard the donation lines over here aswell, i do see this as bang out a order but i dont see why me, little money i have, should donate it to the richest country in world cos they dont want to look after folks.

I dont hate america at all, some of the best people come from there but i dont feel the need to donate as much as wen it's countrys that cant afford to look after there own.

Until recently I had always loved and been proud of my name. Until now that it. My name will always now be synonymous with this disaster!

Everywhere I look - on the web, on the telly etc etc I see my name and cringe. It is not even really the hurricane but more the aftermath :-( At first I thought it was cool to have a hurricane with my name - now I hate it!
