agree 100%
if you look at the new slim ps2 its absolutely possible to 1: make a handheld that plays ps2 games/dvds and 2: keep it portable.
the slim ps2 is so tiny it fits in my hands. now minus the 2 controller ports, 2 memory card ports and the built in usb/net ports you could have a handheld with a slightly bigger screen that plays your ps2 games and dvds.

The point about the format is a good one I would much prefer it if it was a bit bigger and could play dvd's and ps2 cd's would certainly trade mine in for that.
As for the DS TBH so far its been all talk and no action, there are no must have games on it in the UK and the touch screen is being used as a replacement analogue stick and not a very good one at that. I do believe the machine has incredible potential but I am yet to see it being used and I’ll wait till I do before I believe it ever will.
Please remember I am a big Nintendo fan and have always supported them and favoured them out of the consoles but I think there tactics to try and take games retro style is a load of tosh and there "innovations" such as connectivity are a blatant way to extract extra cash out of people, if they don't do something amazing with the revolution they will loose my support

Yeah mate, DS is outselling all other console in Japan/Asia, even PS2, it has serveral games in the top 10 where as the PSP has only one or two in the top 30. Personaly I think handhelds are for kids, wouldnt mind a DS tho, the gameplay looks pretty funky.

Darren J - Metroid Hunters does look great yes and I'll be picking it up ASAP but I've heard it's not coming to the UK untill next year sometime! I've had my DS since launch and the only game I have for it is Mario 64 as none of the others have appealed to me and I completed the original years ago, I just feel my DS has given me little joy since buying it really.

my friend got it about 2-3weeks ago. but i had to lend him money for a game lol. i played few rounds, it's okay i guess, but i will never buy it. battery lasts 3-4hours, that's damn low. PSP here costs a little less than 300euros, you americans get it for what, 150euros? (i dont know how much is that in dollars)
