Well as that remix is a joke anyway, yes, but it still helps people be more aware of hardcore. Someone might hear that and think 'I really like that, I'd like to hear some more music like that.'

i don't really see how playing a joke hardcore tune on the radio will make anyone who has not heard hardcore before want to hear more of it. Surely its more likely to make them percieve all hardcore as being a joke, especially as this already seems to be a popular opinion.

Call me a cynic but i can't imagine a single person getting into the scene because of a joke hardcore version of a TV advertisement.
And to be honest, is that the type of person we want to attract? It was done as a piss take and in no way represents the current hardcore scene (even if it IS better than half the stuff that gets released lately)!

Well I'm sure it would have worked for me, if I wasn't already into the scene.

You're not kidding are you?
Fair enough, if he would have said 'Hey, here's a really funny hardcore version of the Cillit bang theme' it might have made a difference - instead, he played it because it was funny.
That by itself won't have made you or anybody seek out similar sounding music.

I don't think just that one track could cause anyone to think that the whole hardcore genre was a joke, I could have been a trance remix and drum n bass remix, in fact I've heard it referred to as a drum n bass remix, probably be someone who has no idea that Hardcore even exists.
If anyone was to follow up their interest from that track, and found some 'proper' hardcore tunes, they would soon realise that it wasn't a joke, and if they're not interested, then who cares what they think.
That remix was actually posted on another forum that I'm on, for metal detecting, and that forum consists mainly of older people, some up to 70. Some of them thought it good and others just thought it was too noisy and didn't like it at all. I don't think any of them since think that hardcore as a genre is a joke, it's just a style of music that they're not interested in and probably never will be.
