This has been bugging me for a while now. I like to listen to alot of old skool Hardcore, the old bonkers and the Happy2BHardcore albums and it struck me the other day how much of the so called new material being released is covers of old skool. Now I don't mind this up to a point because sometimes tunes need freshening up. However when the original artist doesn't get mentioned then i get a bit miffed. For example shining down. United in Dance have just covered shining down which was originaly done by the legindary Force & Styles. Now i know styles is part of united in dance but you'd still think the original artists would get a mention. Now Styles and Breeze covered Follow Me bby Force and Styles yet they just titled it as a remix, the propor way to do it in my veiw. Then at least everybody knows who did it first and who should get the credit for the lyrics. What does eveybody else think?

I think as long as the artists who done the track originally are happy with what has been done it shouldn't matter TBH.

When the track is different and the lyrics are just used then it doesn't really matter. In my opinion it is better not crediting it a remix as the track it completely different, this avoids the "oh just some remix of an oldskool track" when the track is different.
I dont think there is alot of covers anyway, there is a few but only a very small percentage

Credit should always be given to the original artist, and in most cases it is - even if it's just a simple 'Written by' on the label.

In track detales it usally mentions the year a track was made (IE 1995), in HCH 1 and 2 it shows the original year the track was made, not the remix (IE Brisk Airhead, 1995, 05 update) or the producer might say who a sample was by IE Hixxy People's party features a sample of 'Party people' by Peter Slaghuis if you get what I mean

I second that, there should be equal respect given to both artists
