My school uses them overhead projectors now but when I was in Year 8, my Headteacher called for an assembly and announced that whiteboards (the one's that use black marker pens) will replace blackboards due to ethnic differences.

Uhm, LOL. Sorry to hear that. Still, the old blackboards are crap, though they should changed them if they find a better one, not because they are idiots :p

Btw, its not just muslims, heres one from the western people that forced to change a sign:
Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika "In Japan, the swastika is called manji (卍). On Japanese town plans, a swastika (left-facing and horizontal) is commonly used to mark the location of a Buddhist temple. The right-facing manji is often referred as the gyaku manji (逆卍, lit. "reverse manji"), and can also be called kagi jūji, literally "hook cross." A Pokémon playing card sold in Japan had a manji graphic. Because of its resemblance to the Nazi swastika (see below), the card was altered for Western translations, and eventually withdrawn in Japan following Western complaints." ...or how about those coca cola commercials (if i remember right, the robot is from China and was forced to be removed from the market) ->

The way we take something, may be very diffrent how others take them. Still i wouldnt ever complane if other countrys use e.g. those signs based on their own cultural meanings of them.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baa_Baa_Black_Sheep_(nursery_rhyme) "In 1999, guidelines from Birmingham City Council in England, UK suggested that the rhyme should not be taught in schools because it was seen as racially negative and could cause offence. These guidelines were dropped by the council early in 2000 when black parents described the advice as ridiculous. A further attempt at distancing the song from racism called for its name to be changed to 'Baa, Baa, Green Sheep' when taught in English schools."

And as for one of the biggest brands in the world using it for merchandising. I would imagine quite a few people would be rightfully upset

Yeah i heard about that too.
Baa baa [children pause] sheep have you any wool? Thats just ridiculus.
I think people shouting racist remarks is disgusting and wrong. But nursery rhymes, black boards, ice cream lids and f00k knows what else is MAD! Do we moan about white boards??? Do we ask for them to be called CREAM BOARDS??? No we don't.
I think there are people that just look for something that could mean racism. If its racist spinning one way, imagine its spinning the other way!
Learn to fit in!!! Well said mark-ireland.
Moan over
