In the UK there is not such thing as legally copying.

I for one don't burn cd's for mates; I point them in the direction of the shops! Sales of music are down by something like a third from what they were 10 years ago and this is mainly due to file sharing and people "just burning off cd's for mates". My dad has been running a record shop for about 30 years now, which he is having to close down because of this problem. If people continue to rip off music the only music that producers will be able to justify making is pop, think about that for a bit.

I'm not having a pop at anyone particular just laying down the facts.

The only CDs i copy are 'hard to get' ones, but I won't copy a bonkers as you can get them anywere, HMV are good for bonkers, but I have made a few copies for those who are getting into rave and arn't too sure about where to look for a good old skool CD.

I wouldn't do anything ilegel when it comes to hardcore anyway

Isn't there also an element of more access to purchase music as well nowadays. 30 years or even 10 years ago you didn't have the internet to buy from, or, even more hard hitting on the local shops must be the supermarkets who can buy in large quantaties and sell a lot more cheaper than your dad?

Yes the internet plays a part in it as well, the supermarkets wouldn't effect my dad's sales though as he doesn't sell any pop music.

I think the internet would have more effect depending on the genre of music in question, again some shops more than others
