i bloody love getting tapepacks, but recently i got an iPod and i have spent the past few weeks recording my tapes (dating back to '96) into my mac and then converting them into iTunes. this is a fairly dry process, so, what i was thinking was that promoters could offer the dj sets as downloadable MP3 files from there sites or tapepacksuperstore.com.
Lets just say, you can download only the sets you want, £3 a set say or 16.99 for all the sets. the costs are totally stripped back as there are no overhead costs (no tapes, no box, no artwork no hassle = more money). don't get me wrong i still think tapepacks are an essential part of the rave and i'm not going to stop buying them if this doesn't happen but, the people who only want one or two sets can get the paws on them now at a hassle free cost.
Currently i sit back at work and drop 5 hours or so of hardcore to my work colleges, they never should have given me control of the work iTunes library master folder, the sucker is loaded now.
I have posted this eleswhere and ravers have been interested but the more the better, maybe someone will take notice.
I've already been told on a forum that this will infringe coypright somehow, didin't argue but apparently its due to sound quality changes. i don't think anything more than what we get on a tape currently is needed, anyway if you think this is worth some mileage maybe we can get it happening.
so end the boring speach.
