Where do I start...
First of all apologies to all who went to see me and I didn't turn up. I had set time problems at the emporium in Coalville and Sharkey didn't show up (as far as I know) so I had to play a much longer set than anticipated, pushing my whole night back.
As for the awards.... What can I say. When a label wins an award for releasing 6 records in a year rather than labels such as Next Gen, Quosh, Nu Energy who consistently release good material... Don't you find that a big shame, or is it just purely indicative of the mentality of the people in our scene? Was it any coincidence that all the new RBC releases came out at the same time as the Slammin voting system was announced? Sorry to Hixxy if I've pissed you off here but you know my feelings about this.
Congrats to all the winners, but please, don't vote for me or my labels next year. I don't need a piece of plastic to tell me that I'm good at my job. (This is no dig at Slammin who I've always had a good relationship with).
Thanks to all who voted for me, although I think you honestly voted in vain.
I've probably pissed a few people off saying this, but I'm only telling the truth. It's a sentiment going through the whole hardcore scene I'm afraid.
Maximum respect to scott for that, makes a change to hear an artist expressing the way he feels. I have no doubt that the majority of people who voted aren't real hardcore heads that have only heard the commercial release CDs filled full of breeze & styles and raverbaby releases. In fact, i'd go as far to say as hardly anyone on this site (the real hardcore fans) voted for raverbaby. When i first got into hardcore 2 years ago, i liked what raverbaby was putting out e.g. Starlight, The beat kicks because it was different. Now its just the same as all the other crappy commercial trance u hear played 24/7, just faster. I like hardcore because its different, and at the moment, raverbaby just ain't.
