if she loves you as much as you love her then she should understand that hardcore is part of you life, just like in my situation i love football and my GF knows where she stands with her and that!
Tell her to like it or lump it, at the end of the day you love and care for her and thats all she should be wanting, not for you to quite something that is part of your life!

Just to tie in with the original post.
I've been single (technically) for something like 3 and half years now.
But the singleness has come at a cost. When I get home, I don't spend an hour on the phone to my gf, I spend 4 hours making music.
When I'm at work, I think about music, and desire to make it as soon as I get some. My weekends are mainly spent with music.
I guess I don't date a girlfriend, but I spend my time with music instead. Which do I prefer?
Music.

I've been with my girlfriend for about 3 and a half years now and if she ever tried to get me to stop listening to hardcore (very unlikely as she loves hardcore) I would seriously tell her to accept it or piss off. That may sound like a harsh thing to say to the person you love but IMO anyone who loves you wouldn't demand such a thing.
PS. I can understand quitting drugs for her but not going raving less.

That is seriously harsh. Surely she'd want your kid to know about ur history and what u did. Im damn sure i love listening to my dads stories about rockers and mods etc. Plus as a raver ur educated in drugs you can help your kid out. Lifes experiences make you who you are, which u then pass on to ur kids. Ask her to give up something she loves doing (not meaning it of course) but just so she understands how u feel mate. Maybe if she doesn't compromise you've gotta consider is she really the one? I know if my girlfriend started questioning me going to raves then i'd seriously consider moving on cos its a big part of my life and a passion of mine.

my gf has forbidded me to going to the concert at the NEC in birmingham on new years eve, she has requested that i go to her uncles party instead, i merely laughed then realised she was being serious and replied with a stern but simple 'no'

I kinda know how u feel, my GF used to love hardcore, loved ecstacy etc... now she hates hardcore and hardly ever touches drugs... and yep... she's asked me time and time again to not do drugs (Well she hints more than gives direct orders lol).
When I buy records she'll be there saying they're shit, when I mix she'll be there saying they're shit, singing along to them in a queer annoying piss-take voice lol... all well and good but as a producer/dj, having the music I'm making and DJing mocked doesnt help boost the confidence or encourage me all that much lol.
I used to ask her for feedback all the time etc, it's just not worth it anymore lol.
I will admit one thing tho... I can get her to come to Hardcore raves!
Just put your foot down and say you like what you like and you are who you are. If she can't accept that then sorry to say it mate... she's not the one for u.
