Think that's been said on here but i like the sound of it and it speaks the truth, in my opinion.
Not that i don't like the good ol' days because i do, it just depends on what mood i'm in. For example, one evening i may wanna listen to Re-Con or a bit of Neophyte, and another evening Slimatt and Vibes!
40% of the time i'm wanting to listen to happy hardcore nowadays.
not getting at you mate cos i'm in same situation i got into hardcore in 97/98 for a while then thought it died then realised it hadnt and came back.
The thing is the old stuff and happy stuff people here is only a select few of whats out there.
Not knowing names is the problem but if you search hard theres so much gd stuff from all round the globe. 92-94 were phat for english breaks and 93-97 were amazing for scottish/dutch hardcore. So much of this really doesnt get heard except in particular raves that are normally quite small and dont have too many big name dj's. I'd say hands down that new stuff is better than old if all i could hear was the same old weak happy classics, although i love them aswell in small doses
Early freeform aswell theres just so much musics been releases theres no way anyone can ever no it all, i just love all history of rave music it's fascinating and i hate people who say all new stuffs shit when all they've heard is clubland x-treme etc.
Theres always been a mainstream and always been an underground both with good points but mj said it all in his first post, every year has it's good songs and it shouldnt be a competition.

I like some freeform but I like the old stuff coz it feels more original, most new stuff is starting to ware thin so it's not exciting listening to it, old stuff is new to me in some ways but it seems more exciting due to the different tracks which seem mad but good

im glad i saw this thread and looked like a tit posting a more or less identical one.
i was going to say i started listening to hardcore '94 and i miss the real cheesy happyness that i associate with what i call real happy hardcore
i think most of the hardcore today is hardcore, not really happy hardcore, there is happy hardcore but it takes itself more seriously than, sorry but i got to say it... back in the day, tunes like Toytown and Rainbow Islands
also a lot of hardcore today is quite trancy, whereas i associate original happy hardcore more with if anything faster harder bouncy hardhouse.

Yeh, you're right. I have hardly heard any Makina and only experienced breaks to an extent, recently i have started getting into some wicked gabba, but i haven't heard any hardcore what so ever before '95!
