Almost 3 years now since the death of concorde, and the boffins still haven't
managed to replace it.
Its been three years, i'm probally never going to be able to have the chance fly supersonic in my lifetime now if you look at the way things are going.
Even if you have the money you have to make do with 600 mph.
Thats only 3 times faster than a tuned car for crying out loud.
Back in 1992 i probally would have said all planes will be supersonic in the future.
I cant beleive people just sit back, except todays limits of aviation technology,
and go on 15 hour flights, you would'nt get me on a flight thats last longer than 8 hours.

PROFIT.
It's more profitable to 'slowly' move lots of people around like cattle than move a few people around quickly.
Yes, they could build supersonic cattle trucks but they'd be more expensive to run, higher fuel consumption, higher maintainence costs,
pilot training costs, etc etc etc, fewer people could afford the fares, less passengers, less profit....
....back to where we are now.
That's what happened to poor old Concorde.

it looks like they just wanna invent big planes that can carry more ppl like the "Airbus" and all supersonic jets uses more foel and make a hell of noise...
and 2 go 2 supersonic you need 2 make a afterburner, that there is taking maybee 10 or 20 times as much foel, as if you dident wanna go supersonic.
inventing a jet is not just like making a car that there is taking 3-5year. nope it take maybee 10-15 years like the raptor F-22 the only jet the can do supersonic with out the need of doing a afterburn, and it still not ready 2 replace the F-15
soo you can see it takes time.

Soon there will be giant catapults replacing airports. You sit in it, put a helmet on, put £10 in maching say where you wanna go and... BOOM!!!

richard branson (the guy who owns virgin) has got plans to build a space port in america and it suppose to be within the next decade, apparently people have already booked seats for £200000, that beats concorde any day, it will be strange how for 1000's of years people have looked up at space and imagined what it would be like and now their is the chance for people to go up there, truly amazing!

I got on flights of 9 hrs or longer, the anticipation is a gift of long waits etc, lol, it makes everything worth much more
i will sit back and accept todays aviation technology...i see already everybody making a plane..its allright as it is, if it can be better cool too
but would have been cool to experience tho, really

Didn't you read the the link i posted, it explained this experimental new
tecnology scientists are working on.
Eventually, we will have theese craft that are powered by laser heated plasma, i've watched a video on the net and it looks prety cool.
It will work by a focused laser that hits a certain, and precise point at the aft of the craft.
It does this by focusing on a conical miror, that rebounds the laser light around the "barrel" which excited the air inside turing it into plasma, at the speed of light, which in turn makes into explode.
