Rant Part 1:
OK, so I am at work and I wanted to try and find some of those cell phone ringer tone things. So I went looking around and I came across I-Mockery.com. This site contains a huge anti-rave/raver site. It has stories, fake products, and a message board with like 40-50K posts.
At first I thought this was just a joke, but somone actually put a lot of work into this site. I went to the stories section and there were 3 stories. One of them was by some kid that said he went to his first rave and the music never changed and ppl asked him all nite for drugs and somone tried to put LSD stickers on him so they could steal his wallet and he had to run and hide. One was a big bitch session against E and candy kids. And one was a story by some kid claiming that he personally got 78 east coast raves shut down and ended with him asking ppl to send checks and money orders to the site to support their work.
Now who would send a check or money order to a bunch of whiners? Not me. And no one gives away acid stickers for free! And I know personally that no east coast raves get shut down casue you have to be so on the level with permits and what not that it's almost impossible for them to get shut down.
Rant Part 2:
I went to a rave this weekend and it was pretty fun. Very big, good music, good ventilation. But while I was walking around some girl said "Hey check this out" and pointed a few feet away to a table with a bunch of t-shirts. Well me being the type that likes t-shirts i went over to the table and looked around. And what I saw really upset me. All the shirts were anti-rave. A few of the quotes off of them were: "Poke me and die" with the Pilsbury dough boy on it. "PLUR can suck my C.O.C.K". And "NO IM NOT ON E".
Questions and Answers:
Now if your still reading this you're probably thinking something like "Soren... ummm... what's your point?". Well the point is:
Why do ppl waste so much time and energy producing so much negativity towards raves? I just don't get it. In the message board at that one site there were posts like "I knew i hated techno and raves and E kids, so I went to a rave and I hated it". Why do ppl do things like that? I don't like Limp Bizkit and I would never go to one of their events knowing I hate them and then start bitching about it, so why do so many ppl seem to do this with raves? I mean why waste the energy? Are ppl in the world really that bored? And why go to a rave and try to sell anti-rave t-shirts???
Theories:
Anyone have any? I think either genetically we are wired to be negative so when there is nothing wrong in your life you have go create things wrong and then yell at them to vent. Or maybe there are a ton of jaded x-ravers that haven't found anything to fulfill the spot that raves used to exist in so now they are just going to bitch until they find something new to fulfill them in life?

K, sorry for such a big post. I am at work and pretty doped up on caffeine and confused by all the negativity around me. I haven't proof read this post either, so if it makes no sense and/or is just me bitching and not adding anything positive or at least creating thought please delete it Silver ^_^ Thanx all!!!

That is one thing that really gets to me. I work for/with a rather large Uk based airline engineering company and this is how my week usually goes.
Stranger: So what do u do for fun then?
Me: I DJ and go to raves mostly.

Me:U probably havent heard of it but its called hardcore
Stranger:Ahhh u must have tried/use loads of drugs.
This is the point where i get really mad. I dont do drugs, main reason why is random drugs tests at my work the second reason is that i have done loads of reasearch and i think its to risky. Thats just the way i am.
No I know what u r thinking, he's gonna go on about the evils of drugs. Wrong, personnally i dont mind them got no problem with them. I do have a problem with people who think that im always mashed coz im a raver, and people who ram anti rave- anti drugs crap down my neck all day long.
This really came to my notice during a drugs investigation at my work, as soon as the interogator found out i was a raver i got hassled about drugs for about 10 times longer than anyone else.
I think that some people actually believe that if the spout anti rave-drugs crap then u will grow out of it all. Well it aint happening im afraid.

Soren: From what I have found these people are x-ravers they "think" that ravers are not cool or fun anymore, but here is the killer, the only place they know where to sell their T-shirts are raves themselves. I think if they don't like it they don't have to protest it. Basically these people are looking for attention, just ignore them and don't buy their products.

replying to DJ e-Klyps post that people assume all ravers do drugs. . . its true! check this out: i got hired for my job at the UofA awhile ago. . . and a few days after i started working a co-worker came up to me.
she said "the letter E file divider is missing, do you know what happened to it?" i was like "what would i do with an E file divider??" and she said "well you go to raves right?"
LOL! first of all, even if i did do E, why would i need an E file divider? hehe. . . people scare me sometimes

I think it's hilarious... Some people are so anti-rave and knock people for it without even coming close to trying to understand what it's about. Short example- I knew this kid a long time ago that used to give me sooo much sh*t about raving... not a year later I see him around at every party I go to. All of my old Anti-rave friends now party regularly.
If they want to be anti-rave that's their thing. If they want to try and force it on me, I'll say 'no, thanks'. If Rave culture is about expression, I shouldn't knock someone else for theirs. Thank you, and good night :P
